There was a thread on this but I can't find it. Anyone know where it is, or how to do it?

You have to open the script python window by clicking on "window", then choose Utility funcs, then uncompress files.

Open Poser.  Go to your Windows menu (I think). Find the Python Scripts".  Click "Utilities", and then "Uncompress files".  Browse to the folder you want to uncompress (doesn't have to be the runtime folder itself, it can be one of it's sub folders). Check the box next to "uncompress geometries" and click "run".

LOL.  I've been planning on making a new avatar, but I'm clued out.  My poser faces suck, and I don't know what else to make.  I at least have to redo this one because of the ugly border around it now that the site colours have changed.

Tick both check boxes or you will have duplicates taking up space on your HD, if you don't tick both, you'll have a compressed version and an uncompressed version of the files!

Just for the sake of thoroughness, I thought I'd mention that you can open Poser's compressed files with most file-archiving utilties, including WinZip.  They use standard zlib compression algorithms.

Dimension3D also has a free utility (Poser Compressor) that will uncompress files.  You can get it here:

I've never been able to unzip them using Winzip. How do you user Winzip to open them?

Right-click the file --> Open --> Select program from list --> WinZip

The only choices I have for Winzip when I right click one of those files is to add or zip and email. With Winrar I can add or compress.  Nothing about unzipping or opening.

If it's content that came with Poser, the one possible disadvantage to deleting the compressed version, is that if EF issue an update, it will only be applied to the original compressed file.

Changing the extension is probably what's required.
Try using .GZ

What I said applies more to content updates, rather program updates.
Depending on how they do them, at best you'll have to uncompress again, at worst the update won't happen.
