You can render your flames with a transparent background with Apophysis - but you need to render them as .png files - also you need to make sure that you have "Transparency" set to "Enabled in your Options/Display tab.
Once you have rendered your .png file with the transparent background, you can open it in Paint Shop Pro to use as you see fit...

Who? Me?
Sorry- I was really busied during the last days- your post really helped me out:-)))))))
I'm sooooo happy!
But- I still got the problem that I loose the fine contours of the original flames(it works partly with a high resolution rendering.....but not perfect....)-specially the transparent parts.Do you know any way to lay them over an image? You should see the image through.....(sorry about my english.......I'm germanlol)
I think this would only be possible if I could load an image -file into the background.....but it doesn't look like it's possible....

When I'm using a png file with a photo for instance, I find the same issue, the .png flame is transparent so the photo shows through. I either layer the .png file over itself several times, giving it more substance, or in a new layer flooded with black or any color you want, i layer the png file, then erase all the background color except that which i want to be behind the png. Then I merge. Now I have a pspimage file, and I can layer that over the photo. Sounds convoluted, I'm sure there is a better and easier way, but I haven't found it yet.
Perhaps someone else has some ideas.

Hi-I'm new here- just started working with this Program and I want to know if it's possible to import Backgrounds(not colours-but selfmade images)or export the files/flames with transparent background.....I'm working with the Apophysis2.06beta Version.
I searched all possibilities-didn't find a way to mix the flames with images......
I don't have professional Graphik- Programs like Photoshop, only PaintShop Pro7 and Photo Impact10 and a 3D Program.
It would be really nice if there's anybody out there to help me....Thanks a lot
