Okay, just joking here.. but I did come across an interesting/entertaining site of someone who has a lot of free time to invent new styles of tying a shoe. There's other information in his site too, especially about aglets.

So, in between Bryce renders, instead of twiddling your thumbs or wishing the render would go faster or hoping that it won't crash, now you can practice new and exciting ways to tie your shoes and wow your fellow artists and colleagues.....

What's a 'shoe lace' ?

LOL…Now we’re talking! In my profession besides a few other things, I need to have some familiarity with ropes and know about knots. But I’ve taken it a step further particularly for safety reasons so I’ve made certain that my shoe or bootlace never comes undone. We all know what a pain that could sometimes be and at the most inopportune times to. So here’s a page that fits right in with this topic of shoelaces. I know it as Ashley’s knot #1219 the double slipknot from Ashley’s Book of Knots (1944). On this page it’s called Ian’s secure shoelace knot, second one from the top. Keep those render farms going and look up every once in a while.

I realised the other day that I'd never tied the laces of my last pair of shoes - Not once in over a year of wear - so this'll come in handy for my new shoes!!

Why not? Were they in a knot you couldn't undone, or just wanted the natural look and didn't bother with them?

Er... I think I just tucked them in and forgot about them.

My grandma was always talking about getting a peplim dress, jaboe pants, and espadrille shoes. Now I find out what aglets are. I wonder if there is a dictionary of weird clothing names?

Well, there is that. but it only works if you already know what you are looking for. I find the plain old WWW works pretty well. Just google "weird clothing names" and you get a few sites to search.

While you are waiting for renders to finish you might want to find something that does not tie up processor powers. Why stop at shoes? Professors at Cambridge University's prestigious Cavendish Laboratories have discovered 85 ways to tie a necktie. The full article was published in Nature. For the lady's among us (some of the weirder guys too) There are lots of sites dedicated to ornate nail enamels. Nothing eats up hours waiting for a premium render to finish like trying to do inserts or multitone designs. http://www.nailsmag.com/

D@M,  you should try a store where they make custom sneakers. If you're in the states i've heard theres a chain of shoestores that'll make shoes custom on ur own size and with colors of your own choosing. I'll check with a friend what its called again...
You could ofcourse also go dig into the fake brand clothing market.. There's people that get brand clothing and shoes re-made at A-level quality so it looks just like the real thing and not like those cheap turkish or italian remakes that are just bad quality. Those people usually will be able to tell you where you could get a custom shoe manufactured. Manufacturing a custom shoe will probably be expensive though.
There's also a few small shops and sites around specializing in customizing shoes. It'll again cost you pretty much a lot of cash though. I think cheapest would be to print vector art as they'll just make stensils to print various colors needed. Notice how my shoes really only use black and gold for the printing. thers not many colors, which keeps it reasonably affordable. I know in amsterdam theres a custom shoe store named "patta".

Those are nice shoes. I know there are custom shoe places all over, just have to look for them. Especially popular with ppl who have big feet. I was just wondering about the image on there, as I wouldn't mind if I could just send a shoe I buy in one store to someplace else that will .. maybe.. screen print a render on it, like some places will do with a shirt, mouse pad, or coffee mug.

Well i dont know if they do that with shoes the same way to be honest.. A shirt is easily printed as you can turn it into a flat surface. I've never seen a mug with full-color print on it, always vector-style stuff. And a shoe is rather hard to make into a flat surface once its put together.. I could be wrong though.
