I'm afraid the more objects you use the bigger the scene size. It would be worth testing how the file size expands, check the file size after adding things to your scene each time.
I suspect however that you have so many objects that the 2Gb size is correct.
Unfortunatly, Bryce scene do take up a lot of space, especialy if you are using a lot of trees. If you are using a lot of trees and they are placed in the distance in the scene, then you could use 2d trees instead.
Hope that is of some help to you.
There is a file save bug that does that sometimes. Even little scenes (under 50MB) can hit the 2GB bug. The 2GB file is corrupt and cannot be opened or used in any way. Luckily it can be deleted.
I have never seen either the cause or the solution to the problem.
EDIT - I have never had the bug myself; but have seen posts about it.
Friends don't let friends use booleans.
Okay thanks a lot of this information.. that explains a lot! Though i'm not very happy that I encountered it just when creating the best pic of mine. -Okay, reinstalling Bryce didn't help at all. -It doesn't matter to which earlier save point I return.. the bug will still come when creating something new and then save. And thats weird??? Like all the files are affected. I just hope that if I bring the models I've created to a totally new document I could get rid of this bug. If not... what can be done because even the reinstallation didnt help? I'll be back with this after few days when having more time. Thanks for all who have some clues about this bug. -Antti
This happened to me with a wagon I was working on... the file was about 80MB and it would save at 2.13GB... I had my wagon in a few separate files to keep things managable.. when ever I added something new to a file it would save large... I think it might have to do with display render settings... being different for both objects and then bringing them both together as one....

I thought I was the only one who was having this problem. I’m having the same thing happing to me.
I've been working on a scene for a month now. The first time I saved the scene, closed out and came back to work on it some more, the program crashed. After about the third time this happened, I check the file size and saw it was huge. I just decided not to save what I was working on and render at the same time.
I haven’t quit out of the Bryce in a month. So now I’m rendering and that's taking forever. Pray I don't freeze.
I haven't started my garden because of this.
Me think it’s time to search the web for answers. I’ll let you know what I find.
Just out of curiosity here, but for those of you who have been affected by this, what kind of system are you running on? And what version of Bryce are you using? I had quite a few problems when I started using Bryce, but nothing as major as that. Just some things that require me to restore Bryce to defaults every now and then, such as not being able to alter object textures. The first time was when I was trying it out, and it confused a lot of people here. Bryster, and Agent Smith probably remember me for that alone. And a few others who I can't remember. I have Bryce on another pc, and on that one it never does this, just on my laptop, which I affectionately call Lappy 356.
I remember reading something about Bryce not using the Dual Core system too well? And the newer versions were to address that problem? I'm not a programmer, but I am a system tech by training and experience. When a bug does happen more than once, and to more than one person, there is normally a common point.
The only problem is that with all of the different system specs for computers these days, actually knowing what that common point is, and being able to specify it, well that could take a team of techs with multiple systems a lot of time to run down every possible problem, or a lot of detailed user feedback.
Mac Mini 2.0GHz Intel Duo Core processor with 2GB of RAM
I’m not sure of the exact version I’m running. I don't seem to find the exact version on it. I bought it about a year ago if that helps.
I know it was upgraded for duo core processors.
I just submitted a query through DAZ report bugs to see if I can get any insight as to what mite be causing this problem.
Well I use Bryce 6.0
And my laptop has a single core P M740 1,7Ghz, WinXP,1GB,Geforce Go 6800
I just had to abandon that project and start a new one.. no other choice. I think it was something object related because I added all the objects to the library and then into a totally new scene.. same happened. But i didnt have patience to go that far that I woud have tried to discover which object was the reason.
I have no idea. The fact alone that rjay9663 is using a mac and having the same problem makes this a lot harder. Riquelme8, for your system, I don't know, but my laptop is a Dell Latitude D610 without a video card. I have only a hair more processor speed than you do, and it's never given me this problem before.
Oh, since upgrading to 6.1, I haven't had that one problem, either. You're problem could be anything from video cards, video drivers, something as easy as a bad object download, or possibly a certain object combination. **

pentium 4 cpu 3.46GHz 2GB ram single core,, Bryce 6.1 windows xp
This was the first time this particular problem had happen to me... I was working on a large br6 file and imported an obj file to merge with it... then I tried to save and got this huge file... I had been merging all that week two and even three files together with no problems at all..

...or with my computer? Something very mysterious is going on anyways. I started to create this "secret garden" thing and the BR6 file was something like 100MB in some point. Okay then I created some more objects but not so heavy models or so and the file suddenly increased to be 2GB!!! So you can imagine how my laptop was in total freeze. Okay i got back to early different save and then it all happened again in totally random. There's no matter what I'll create more or so.. and the 2GB file wont even open and then some early savings wont open properly at the first time and other weird things? Maybe I really have to reinstall the program:( Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced same? -Antti- Ps. If I'll ever get my "garden" ready I'll beat you guys in the challenge:D:D:D
