Tread lightly gentle reader. A few years back I flew from London to Chicago to meet 40 folks that I had been chatting to over IRC. It was the best weekend of my life. I am now living in Kentucky married to Jan, .... one of the 40. One never knows where these things will lead :)) BTW we will be visiting UK mid August.
I'm not too sure about MartinC's definition of me as a wonderful person. I reckon I'm actually just about not too bad on a good day. Obviously I've met Martin too and he's also a good guy. He understands Macintoshes which I don't. And he really does exist. I've spoken with Art on the phone but never met him. I'd be pleased to toddle along to a 'meet people in person' day (or night), anywhere but Vegas! Sorry folks, I've just never been into neon lights, cowboy hats, gambling and deserts. Now a meeting in a London pub, I'd go for that. Especially one of the 'olde worlde' ones with sawdust on the floor (yes seriously) where Jack the Ripper used to go. I might even buy a round (depending on how many people turn up of course). Maz
Several of us from my forum on Compuserve meet ftf each year at Origins (a gaming convention). I have really enjoyed putting voices and facial expressions to the typed messages after meeting a person with whom I've exchanged comments over the years. I've met a few of the DAZ and CuriousLabs folks at the Game Developer's Conference, but nobody else from these forums. That could be remedied! :) I live in the SF Bay Area. Are there any other members around here? I hold artist tea parties occasionally (the next is in 3 weeks), so could be persuaded to host a friendly little gathering. Carolly
I've only met Jack D Kammerer in Daytona Beach, FL last year when he, Ed and Jack's wife came to visit family.... I haven't met anyone else from Renderosity in person though... I have met a number of people from AOL over the years and we've all become very close friends because of it... One of my AOL friends I met (he was a 19 year old guy at the time) is getting married this summer and I'm invited to the wedding...=) BTW, he's now 24.. Wow, time does fly.... sigh All the other people I know in person online are people I knew before the Internet came into my life.. =) ^Cindy

Vegas is a lot more than just neon and the strip. I saw Casino the other night and got teary eyed thinking about all the stories the old timers would share about the city (not realizing that the old timers telling the stories had colorful--if not criminal--pasts of their own). I got to hang out with the late Teddy Binion, and Floyd Lamb's little brother. Out there, the cowboy hats usually have genuine cowboys underneath them (make that former cowboys--the freerange beef that the casinos serve is usually shipped in from elsewhere.) If we went with Vegas, I'd suggest having the meeting at the Enigma Cafe in the Gateway District. The owner, Lenadams Dorris, is probably the closest thing the Southwest has to the Martha Stewart of desert living and landscaping (although he's a little more approachable--more catty than bitchy)This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. (1) What has happened to Albertosaurus and Allerleirauh? (2) Among all you lot, who has eyeballed (= seen in person) who?, rather than knowing them merely as names on the screen.
