CarlosDexter ( ) posted Tue, 28 August 2007 at 12:13 PM · edited Sat, 28 December 2024 at 4:50 AM

Hi Friends.

I was designing clothes for a 3D game like Second Life, but im so interesting in create more complex and featured clothes, and i would like to know if anyone can orient me to select a good tool set for modeling and texture for poser. Also would like to know any link with tutorial about techniques and so.

Thanks a lot in advance

You'll need a good modelling application, one that you like and are handy with.
(in my case that's a combo of hexagon and 3D max)
You'll need a UV mapping tool. Lot of modelling applications have UV mapping, but UV Mapper classic (a freebie) is a great tool.

Also good paint and texturing programs aer good to have for creating textures. Personally, it's a combo of Hexagon, Deep Paint, Zbrush, Photoshop and few other trexture generating utilities.

You'll need a collection of utilities to create poser-ready files. Things like rigging, editing a cr2 file, loading morphs or creating inj poses, or creating material poses.  Some are free, like a cr2edit, and Pozer's little helper. Few others, which work really slick are made by dimension3d (their poser toolbox) and PhilC's toolset.

For any one thing, like modelling, UV mapping, Texturing and rigging and creating poser-ready files, there's about a dozen different ustilities, and about two dozen opinions which one is better then the other.  I think most people learn by trial and error what works the best for them personally.

Hope that helps :)

I'd suggest UVLayout for mapping instead of UVMapper.

Thanks all. What do youthink about model, its beter poligons or nurbs to create things
Do oyu use any special technique for the cloth follow the body shape??

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Tue, 28 August 2007 at 6:29 PM

Lot of people start a spline for the basic shape, then refine with polygon modelling - I think.

Here's a link to a really detailed tutorial showing the modelling process and then some:
