Subject: I need feedback on my image before I am finished! (ROBOTECH!)

templargfx ( ) posted Wed, 29 August 2007 at 8:48 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:33 AM

Hi Everyone,

I've been working on this scene for a few days, the final quality render is running at home, meanwhile, I am doing the postwork here at work in PSP while I wait.

This image is very close to what the final will look like, the only difference will be the shading smoothness (difference between low quality GI and high quality GI)

Image Info :
RayTrace ON; Shahows ON; Depth of Field ON; Depth Queue ON; Pixel Samples 15; Min Shading Rate 0.2; GI Sample Size 8; GI Number Samples 24

FINAL GI settings  : GI Sample Size 4; GI Number Samples 36

Final image will have AO layered ontop aswell as a few other layer effects + color correction

WHat I am looking for is some feedback on things that need changing/tweaking etc. things that look wrong/out of place so I can work on them now or when I get home after the final render is complete.

Thanks Heaps everyone!

turn pre-gain up to 10. Turn gain up to whatever works, then hit a note on your guitar, and hold the pickups next to the speaker....shake if you want a little tremulo (guitar, that is)..and...

oh. It's already better than anything I could do, so I say go with it as it is...

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

do you find the planes look strange, I tried to simulate motion blur (tried getting poser to do it. THAT was a bad idea :D Motion Blur + DOF + 15 Pixel Samples + 3D Motion Blur + GI = Poser's untimely demise)

I think I will take you up on the damage marks. I'll get started on a "damage" layer

thanks heaps Nancy

ConnieKat8 - Great Advise, I have posted a duplicate over there. I like this forum though, my friends post here :D

I'm looking at this on my manky workplace monitor, but from what I can see, it looks very nice.
Very nice textures/materials and good solid lighting.
The AO layer should finish it off well.
Won't and can't give any constructive suggestions using this monitor as the setting are way off beam.

LOL, I know what you mean, I have an LCD and a CRT at home, and 2 LCD's at work. the image looks different on every one.

I use my CRT to get final saturation/brightness as it seems to have the best colour range (its an EXPENSIVE CRT LOL)

thanks for the reply ashley!

Refresh the page (hold SHIFT and press the refresh button in IE) to see the updated image, some damage added, I think the torso damage is probably overboard, might tone that down. fixed up some smoke issues here and there.
