hi :- )

may somebody can give me advice about the scalling for my poser content?
it is really a nice thing to import the content via the carrara browser but my Vicky and Aiko are really a littel bit oversized for Carrara 6 - I need help please

Incognitas ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2007 at 10:01 AM

Yep I'll be interested in this answer myself.

I've also noticed it opens v4.1 as giant-sized, compared to the GI scene in c6pro. I know there's a simple way to fix this, but haven't tried it yet. c6pro crashed on me the last time I tried to render with all the settings maxxed out.

I don't believe that the eariler GI content was re-saved into a format the "respects" the new scaling options available on Carrara - however, it was bundled with C6. In C5, it was one-size-fits-all. In C6, you now have Small, Medium and Large. Consequently, all scenes would need to be retooled. I don't think that was done. :-P Personally, I feel it's a minor issue since rescaling groups make this a pretty easy fix.

DAZ just likes giantesses.
V3 is 40 meters tall in Bryce 6.

Friends don't let friends use booleans.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2007 at 4:47 PM

even with the scene scaled to 3000 ft., v3 still comes in approx. 3-4X too large.

thank you for your answers guy's
what you do? scale you down vicki or scale you up the carrara things?  Is there no option to get the workspace bigger?
i did a render and dont scale vicki because she had a lot clothes on but than i choose the sky with the small clouds and the clouds are around her belly piercing (looks funny but not that i want)
that can not be the right way to scale in every scene all poser content down ????? and the proportionen make me mad :-(
any useful advices for me please ?

The Problem with V4.1 or Aiko is everytime you load first a szene (Sky, Terain...)

If you load frist the Char. no Problems

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2007 at 1:10 PM

o.k., thx fr the tip, jenny. will try that.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2007 at 9:05 PM

jenny, I first loaded the character (V4.1). then I loaded a scene. unfortunately, the two methods I tried don't work. double-clicking an indoor scene in the browser causes a new document to open (without V4.1). dragging an indoor scene from the browser to the document window causes a tiny indoor scene to appear next to the giantess V4.1. is there a special method to add a preset scene to a document which already contains V4.1, in such a way that V4.1 is correctly positioned and correctly sized, with respect to the preset scene?

I am having the same trouble with trees, the Willow is the size of a Sequoia, and when I try to render, the trunk looks like a sand dune a night!!!  And nothing works, except to resize everything object by object.  I am getting a %#@*!^ headache, my eyes can’t stretch that far apart!

Well if you have imported the DS runtime to your section of the Browser(simply called content and is empty)Or even your Poser runtime..then anything you take from your content will fit with your characters.

The problem occurs for me when I take a character from the content and try to marry it with an object from the Carrara supplied content in the browser.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2007 at 1:39 PM

yes, that's true - AFAIK none of the carrara scenes can match the size of the carrara or poser characters or their associated clothing and props.

traeumerle62 ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2007 at 2:27 PM

the sky dosnt fit also ....try it
the clouds are around her abdomen

The Carrara House is only 8 or nine inches tall.  I exported it in OBJ to Amapi 7 to scale it to the right height using its measuring tool.  Then exported the house back into Carrara 5 in the past.

the poser figures appear to be in the range of 68 to 72 inches tall when opened as cr2 files in C6Pro. pz3 files aren't really working well enuff for me to say if they import the figures smaller than that.

keenart ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2007 at 11:52 AM

I am not sure what was going on with my system, but I got black screens, no renders, disappearing menus, and imports at every size and description, 5.9 feet, 3.9 feet, and other sizes. When I boot the system today CP6 works and the ghosts are gone. It is not the graphics card or drivers, but do suspect the Visual Studio 5 redistributables did not register correctly with the system.

If interested, I am running Vista x64. Will use Aiko 3 as base figure;

Aiko cr2 imports at 5.9 feet in 3000 ft scene, imports at 5.9 feet in 30 ft scene, and imports at 70.84 ins. in a 30 inch scene.

Keenaart, Vista does have some OpenGL rendering issues at this time. Try switching the interactive renderer to Software in the Assembly Room instead of the default OpenGL. Mark

Thanks Mark, I am one of the Beta testers for NVidia Vista Drivers, so went to that area immediately.

Because the VS5 installed into the base Application folder rather than into

the WinSxS folder, and everything returned to normal when I shutdown and booted later, I would assume the VS5 redistributable didn’t shake hands with the Registry in a friendly manner.

It is all back to normal and working now, no more glitches.

Thanks for your help.  Now I have to read the manual all over again!
