If I wanted to put a small light to shine through a port hole on a boat..to illuminate it ..how would I do this ??I cant seem to make the spotlight small enough to put behind the window ....or am I limited to doing this with ambience and diffuse in the mat settings? Thanks

just choose a light and put it inside the boat in front of the window and it should send the light out you dont have to use the spotlight just an ordinsary light just turn up the power to suit your need hope this helps dolly

"to make the spotlight small enough to put behind the window"...if I read you correctly, you are trying to size down the spotlight "icon". Not to worry about it, just put it anywhere...and if I'm wrong and you intend to create a small spot light 'beam' just size down the "spread" and power value. Note that "Directional" and "Point" light all have different purpose. Example..."Directional" is somewhat like another sun.

you may have to wait....volumetrics are in Vue4, if that is what you are trying to do...visible beam?

Visible light-beams don'ts need to wait for Vue 4 -- although I'm sure 4 is going to make the process of getting there a lot easier. Check the manual (both v.2 and v.3) for adding beams. Guitta has a tutorial for light coming through a window. [start.at/arte/](http://start.at/arte/) In this case, I *think* the concern was relative to the size of the spotlight icon, as Tesign suggested. So adjusting the spread setting should do the trick. :)

ehhhh i'd wait till Vue4:-D Or Vue7..where not only will there be a cranial interface....but a visible light capture plug-in...actually capture sunlight...amazing.....

Yeah, but do you know how large your hard drive needs to be to utilize the sunlight capture? ;>

Hey guys!...I'm gonna write a plugin to integrate into Vue 5 in the near future. Its gonna be call "Vue Torch Light". It would be represented by a hand torch like that runs on Dural cell. What it does for rendering in Vue is that, just place the torch anywhere, where you want sharp ray beam to fuzzy one to shine on. Of course it comes with spread and power features, type of colour, variation ray beam mode, nosie mode for hazy duct effect, etc...all by dialing a radial switch on the torch handle. You people would love it but for a start, let Vue 5 comes around first so that I can justify the size of user base in making this worth....ohhh!!!...almost forgot...I have to start learning how to program first.....LOL!

Better learn animation, too, because if you're going to make such a nice torch light, it's going to have to be able to be animated! You sure you can have that ready for Vue 5? How about 8 or 9? ;)

Hard Drive size...ha...with my holographic crystal drive space won't be a problem...hahahahaha
