Do you also happen to have a tablet?
I know that if a tablets mouse is sitting on the tablet while you are trying to use another mouse...it'll make the pointer go all over the place.
If you do have a tablet(and tablet mouse) move the mouse completely off the tablet.(Or even throw it in a drawer...lol)
If you have no tablet(or other pointing device)...go to the manufacturers website and see if there is an upgrade to the driver for your mouse.
A couple more possibilities...many times the mouse driver will have an "acceleration" option..(Logitech especially)Turn that OFF.
They may also have an option in the driver to automatically move the pointer to a specific location when a dialog is presented (Like "OK",,or"Next")..Turn that off too.
Who knows why these settings get changed inadvertently...many times a recent Windows Update is the culprit.
Best of luck

“The fact that no one understands you…Doesn’t make you an artist.”
So True Khai,
Many times...I'll disable my alternate pointers , tablets, etc.) in the device manager if I know I'm not going to be using it for a while.
alternately...I'll do the same if I'm doing a project with my tablet extensively,,,and disable my regular mouse... just to avoid conflicts.
It's simple enough to re-enable them later...and not only reduces conflicts...but frees up system resources (albeit a tiny amount...I try to re-claim my resources whenever I can...after a while...they add up y'no?
Good "Point" on not using your wireless mouse with wacom as the mouse-mat.

i guessing at the "acceleration" thing too, i tend to only use my wacom mouse, but when i put the drivers on my new comp, it was like i had one of the Incredibles arms on or sumfink, it felt really alien, before i was like click click click, never missing, but with that accelerator thing i kept overshooting the runway as it were, can't see the point of that option unless it is something to do with gaming mice (squeak) (might make you loop the loop quicker)
V4 is still not speaking to me, after i tried to select her neck and ended up pokin' her in the eye!!

Thnx for all the info and help so far..
I already did remove my tablet but the problem stayed...
I'll try to fix it otherwise i have to reinstall XP ...
Thnx for now peeps !!
