I have a question :)

I'm done that last  step and now have 48 links (24 sets of 2).  Is that all there is to it? Don't I have to do something to save it so that I can use it again as one morphing chain instead of having 24 separate props of 2 links to always add?

Oops!  hehe

My names are going to be a bit different than yours at times because I made a boo boo with my pasting and accidently pasted my value as a name.

I have:

Untitled
NewProp
NewProp1
NewProp 1 through 5
39.732
NewProp 6 through 20

They all look identical to me with each having a name of "link" and "clink".

As for Nay Say Guy's brain polygons? hmmm.  One?

And if you have had eye surgery you should be resting not sitting here teaching me how to make a chain!

This chain is huge..I mean the links are.  Is there anyway to make it all smaller? I zoomed out as far as I could and have to move the camera left and right to see the ends of the chain.

I'm officially confused now!  LOL

What do you mean by "We may have both links in the "link" group? If this is the case...."

I think I followed everything exactly so far. So I don't know if this part applies to me or not or if it's just a cautionary thing if you made a mistake or something.

Above is what my poser scene looks like when I have the "Untitled" prop selected. It  consists of 2 rings with  2 names in it called "link" and "clink" in the drop down window of the Group Editor.  Each set of 2 rings has that same thing.

I don't understand the "remove group" part. Are you saying for me to delete some of the rings?

"It is good to see ourselves as others see us. Try as we may, we are never

geep ( ) posted Thu, 20 September 2007 at 8:04 PM

Ok, I'm back online ... let's see if we can UNconfuze you. (lol)

  1. Select the "Untitled" prop
  2. Select the Grouping Tool (GT)
  3. Select the "link" group ... Now, what lights up RED?, i.e. , What polygons are in the "link" group?
(we only want the polygons for the first link in the "link" group)
(we MIGHT have all the polygons for both links in the "link" group because ...
when we did an "Add All" in order to make the "NewProp", it may have put all the polygons for both links  in the "link" group ... ok?)

  1. Now, select the "clink" group ... What lights up RED?

Each prop, e.g., "Untitled", "NewProp", "NewProp 1", etc. has 2 links in it.
We need to make sure that each link is in a separate named group, e.g., "1", "2", etc.

In your graphic (above) I do not see ANY RED polygons ??????????????
If you have the "link" group selected, then the first link ...
(on the left side inside your RED rectangle)
... should be RED, ok?

Will await your reply B4 I continue.

Nothing lights up red. Both links are green when I select the "link" and "clink" names.

Well, we need to go alllll the way back to, um, er, .............

Making groups and *ADDING polygons to a group.

Polygons that are in a group show up as RED when the GT is active (selected)

It would appear that you do not have any polygons in either group.

What happens if you select one of your groups and click the "Add All" button???

The same thing that happened before.

I select the "link" from the drop down menu, click "Add All". If I hover my mouse cursor over the links they show green. Otherwise they look like all the rest... white.

If I have to go back and start over, is there  a way to work on a smaller scale? Those screen captures I posted above show 5 links.....there are many many others that are way off to the right that I have to scroll a long way to see.

It doesn't really matter because I can scale up or down when it's done. But trying to work with it at this current size is really cumbersome.

I made 48 links and I can only get 5 or 6 of them in the window at a time, all the rest are way off to the right.

What name do you have for a prop halfway down the chain?

Using the Main Camera ... zoom in so you can see the "Untitled" prop in the Document Window ...

1.. Use the  [top of the screen menu] and select "Object" >>> **"Point At..."

**On the popup list, find the prop that is halfway down your chain and click on it.

Now the Main Camera should be "Pointing At..." and displaying the prop you selected in the Document window.

Maybe I'm not understanding, but when I select  the "untitled" prop and then go to "object" and select "point at" and then pick "New Prop 8", all that happens is that the "untitled" prop turns itself so it's standing vertical.
