Ok, it's "Feeling Brave" time ... ___ HUH?

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo...................................... :scared:

Are you ready? ................................ Good!

Here's what to do:

  1. Select Foxey Boxey (aka Figure 1) .... and delete her so the studio is empty.

  2. Recreate the figure without peeking at your notes.

C'mon now, you can do it ...

  1. Load a box prop
  2. Go to the Setup Room
  3. Create 2 bones
  4. Use the GT and Auto Group button
  5. Return to the Pose Room

Simple, huh?  Now you do it again from scratch without using any notes.
Go ahead and close this window and ... just DO IT !
You know you can ................ I'll wait until you get back so we can continue.

cheers,
dr geep

It is fun.

Acadia, I have a chance to play with Poser, I converted my chain into Poser format with IK enabled.  It is really interesting.  You can hold the end of the chain and pose it.

DG,

You're a swell guy. So helpful, patient and FUNNY. It's nice how you take the time out to go through each and every step. It's also very helpful and cute the diagrams you use. I find, even when you get help on here, it's still hard to comprehend as a noob because (through no fault of the helper's own) they use words within their descriptions that need need a description. I often doubt my abilities when I can't understand for the life of me what I'm supposed to, but you make everything very easy to understand.

Cheers.

Hmmm. Nothing happens.

I am back in the Pose Room. I have a "Figure 1" (box) and I have "Bone 1" and "Bone 2", but when I use the parameter dials on either of the bone parts, nothing happens.

I redid it again (without looking at the instructions). The "auto group" must not have taken the first time, but it did the second time.

Whee! I can move the parts around, hehe

Now off to try this on the chain,  LOL

I think I did something wrong when applying the bones.  After I applied them and went back to the pose room and tried manipulating a link this is what I get.  The link moves but so does a portion of the next link.

I'll post a shot of what my bone application looks like in a couple minutes.

Here is an example of the bone placement.  I had to go and redo the example for you because when I went back to the setup room, while the bones were showing, the ones for the vertical circles weren't in the same place as I had placed them.  The tip seemed to have repositioned itself to the end of the horizontal ring.  Image to follow.

How the bone on the vertical ring seems to have moved. All vertical rings now have the tip at the start of the next ring, which isn't how I placed them.

Yes, I was using the main camera when I was placing the bones.

I'm not really comfortable with cameras and TBH the only cameras that I do use are "Main", sometimes "Posing" and "Face"  I usually just swing around with the main one then go and reset it again and then change my focal lengths back to my desired settings. I know... more work but I've always been more comfortable with "drop down menus" than keyboard shortcuts and all of those cameras are more like keyboard shortcuts to me and take me out of my comfort zone.

Which camera should I be using when I place the bones?

I'm confused about the "Auto Group" now.  Earlier you said to use it, but now you say not to? 😕

We do not want to use Auto Group because the groups (links) are intertwined with each other and Poser can not sort that out properly with Auto Group so we must use a different method.

Hi Dr Geep,

I wonder if there is a better way to extend the chain I've made with more rings.  Currently, I have 24 rings, let say I want to make it to 48 or 72.  I don't think no one want to repeat the same steps for 120 rings.  Can we join characters in Poser?

geep ( ) posted Mon, 24 September 2007 at 9:27 AM · edited Mon, 24 September 2007 at 9:31 AM

Hi Amy,

Yes ... stay tuned. ... 😄 ... And thank you for the question.

The chain I am making has 10 links ... but we can use it to make a different chain with any number of links.  We could reduce it to 5 links or make it have 20, 30, 40, 50, etc. links.
How many links do you want in your chain? ... ;=]

Another GOOD question ... BTW. ... 👍
