The fact that she thinks alot of herself is kinda a turnoff for me. Yeah, she's an awesome tattooist, and yeah she's a babe but she's got that whole "look how awesome I am" attitude :/ I think that's a lot of why her and Ami (from Miami Ink) clashed so much. She always acted as though she was better than them and wouldn't lower herself to do 'regular' tattoo's. OTOH I think all the other girls are lovely and Pixie is a deadset hottie :)

I'm not into tatoos myself (I mean on myself) but the artwork some of the high end tattoo artists create is just amazing! I love to see how it's done.

No tats, but piercings. I kinda like Kari Byron (MythBusters) - nice eyes ;). Grant isn't too bad either, but a bit too geek baby-fat for me (and hetero and every solution involves a machine - well, that might work for the women anyhoo). ;P

I'm designing my left sleeve at the moment. All Egyptian stuff :) I only wish I could draw faster LOL
I've just begun tattooing. Started about 12 months ago. It's sooo awesome. I have my first real client (non-family member) coming in next week to get a very simple design (he's been pre-warned about my limited experience). I'm so excited .... and terrified :D
As much as I love 3d modelling, tattooing is the only job I've ever truly wanted.

I feel this way, too, about... oh, pretty much every possible field/area out there. If someone has to make a point of pointing out how much better they are than everybody else, my first thought is usually, "Well, if you're that much better than everybody else, shouldn't we have been able to notice that on our own?" If I have noticed, I just get annoyed by the egotism, which is patently unattractive to me in all forms. If I can't see this supposed major superiority, I shuffle them into the "deluded moron" pile and move on.

Bleh. I'm not into gypsy sideshow women.

They need to run another TV series immediately after that one -- with a title like "Un-Ink, Inc". The new TV series would feature the large percentage of people who decide 10 years down the line that it was a big mistake --
On "Un-Ink, Inc.", they'd show plenty of close-ups of the 'victims' grimacing / crying / pain-wracked face in the plastic surgeon's theater as the laser / scalpel are applied to them to undo the damage that they did to themselves back when they were drunk and 19. Especially if it was the name of an ex-boyfriend / girlfriend / whatever.
I understand that removal hurts a lot worse than the original application did. Typical of life.
I won't go into my own taste on the subject. But......y'all can probably guess.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. With that said, it's not very nice to knock what someone else finds beautiful. Some things in this thread could have gone unsaid.

If one person is helped to avoid making a mistake -- like others that I've known who came to bitterly regret it later -- then it's actually a mercy.

If you issue a challenge, then you shouldn't be surprised when that challenge is answered. I wasn't "explaining" anything -- I was making a point. Just as you are attempting to.
I don't know what "conclusions" you are indicating that I've drawn. It was I who made an observation -- and it was you who challenged my making that observation.
The fish part sounds smelly. I think that I'll pass on that one. I've never even been to Teddington Lock.
Back to the topic at hand LOL. Kat Von D....... Hrm. I dont mind tattoos at all, I dont have any, but my husband does. Some are lovely. its not the tattoo thing that bothers me. She's pretty, physically and visually so I guess. Its her attitude. I dont actually watch much of the show, the commercials alone for it tell you all you need to know. Her voice? It could be nice, if she didn't do that "I'm a sexy ho" type hushed whine when she speaks. its like that lazy ditz drawl that has nothing to do with where you come from.
Just dont find anything really appealing about her.

Never seen the Monty Python Fish Dance, then?

Insofar as the attitude part is concerned -- I've known many, many human beings over the years with attitude. They were quite proud of themselves. And I've also seen life & circumstances which were totally outside of their control take them down -- hard. Both personally and publically.
There's confidence.....and then there's attitude. It can be difficult to find the balance between the two. The confident person is aware of what they can do: while keeping in mind that they remain 100% mortal -- just like everyone else.
The person with attitude flies high until something happens to them. Which it inevitably does.
I well remember fans of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson who literally worshipped those celebs in their heyday. Phil Spector was hot stuff in his day, too. At one time.
They all had lotsa attitude going for them. At one time.
Quote - Never seen the Monty Python Fish Dance, then?
No, I haven't. But it does sound like Monty Python.
Personally, I prefer the Knights Who Say "Neyh! (sp?)".

OK -- let's say for the sake of breaking out of this möbius that you didn't challenge me.
oh yes tats
never got round to the couple I wanted sigh maybe one day...
but I find it strange the quote about the removals involing pain etc... my Sister had her Unicorn removed a coupla years ago.. no pain or fuss and almost no scar.. just peeled off in a few days like sunburn... she said it was more painful to have the tat done than to have it lasered... maybe more modern techniques are used in the UK?
Quote - maybe more modern techniques are used in the UK?
Probably.
From what I've heard, your sister's experience is atypical. Some people undergo surgery like falling off a log. While others find it quite unpleasant. Not to mention pricey.
And....oh yeah......there are some tattoos which can't be removed. At least not completely. It depends upon size & other factors.
My tattoo wasn't painful at all. Quite pleasant, in fact. I'd never consider having it removed and plan to add to it as soon as I can come up with a design I like and can then afford it.

I'll take the money that I've saved by not getting myself tattooed and invest it in something truly worthwhile -- like lotsa V4 content.
It won't hurt a bit -- really, it won't.

for Xeno....I wish some of the really cool tattoos are available in a peel and stick (temporary version), then I could jump on my harley and play a really bad girl on the weekends, and be on really good behavior in the office!

No, thanks: I already have one -- on the other side of the Atlantic.
Don't take that as an anti-Brit comment -- while I can't say that "some of my best friends are British!" (although they are / have been)......I can say that I once owned & drove an MGB GT back in my misguided youth. So that fact alone obviously means that I am totally free of any prejudices on that score.
BTW - come on over to the US. The only thing that you'd have to do would be to talk. You'd find yourself instantly the center of attention pretty much anywhere that you went. English accents are très chic over here, and a ticket to a certain amount of social notoriety.
