I agree, hanging on the wall would have been a more interesting choice. I was going for lying flat on the countertop, as I was trying to hide the fact I wasn't sure how to texture it so that the sides look painted red, while keeping the wood finish from topside. I just saw the pig kind growing up, but I see more variety in shapes these days. Yo! Litst! What shape do they use in France? Cheese-shaped?
Wow, indeed! Did you scan the texture for the cow? It looks perfect! (Even with the little tomato-sauce splatter stain on her back!) I'd agree about putting some kind of bumps in the bump channel on the paper towels, but it really does read like a photo. And how long did it take you to put this one together?
Very nice pictures everyone ! Willf, you cow is incredible ! =) Terri, if you were a good cooker, you'd knew that several cutting boards are necessary : one for each kind of meat . So there are some shaped like a pig, like a cow, like fish ... So stop eating plastic cheese and go cook ! ;) litst ( not a real masochist !)
Thanks for the comments. Yes, the cow & the paper towel textures were scanned from the "real" things and mapped to the faces of the spline objects. I use the scanned image to make the outline shape for the spline object for the cow (select backround of image, fill with white & save to use a t-map, then invert & fill with black-save as grayscale & bring into Adobe Streamline to convert to eps that will be imported to Spline Modeler. This makes for a perfect fit & minimizes any image distortion. The paper towel roll is a spiral rule done in Illustrator, converted to a outline path & imported to Spline Modeler. The "top" has a wood (center section) bump mapped to that face, that's why I didn't add one to the paper "face". All told, I guess I spent 1 1/2 hrs on it. The real question is: Was the Spagettie Sauce on the scanner glass or on the real cow?
