Subject: Importing Illustrator files

Uh oh! When trying to import an Illustrator CS2 file into the spline modeller, C6Pro tells me it's an incompatible format, and can only import up to Illustrator 8 version!!!
Surely not... Illustrator 8 was in play 5 or 6 years ago?!

Anyone figured this one out yet?

Just do a "Save As" from within Illustrator, select the ai8 format and you'lll be fine. Mark

Thanks Mark. I think that means I have a problem, as it appears I need Version Cue to get addidtional formats for saving!
I have CS2 Illustrator as a stand-alone, and not as part of the Creative Suite, and am only given the option of saving in .ai format.
Eish!

Mark, I've just dug out and shaken off several years of dust on my copy of Illustrator 6! I've installed it and can import those .ai files. Bit of a bollock breaker though, as it's OS9. Technology... you gotta love it!
Thanks again.

CS2 Illustrator can save in all the older AI file versions. If you click on the right save item you get a dropdown from which you select the AI version.

Of course! Sorry! In my defence, I'm a Photoshop jockey, and just getting to grips with a little bit of Illustrator... lame, I know!
Thanks for your indulgence!
(Good thing this site's colour is blue... it helps to disguise the red glow from my face...)

If you dont say -------b---------- or go purple in the face several times a day you are not working in CG or 3D!
