heyas; my guess would be that you copied the geomhandler thingy from the left leg parts to the right leg parts, but forgot to change the 'l' to an 'r' in the parts that are not visible. anyway, that's what i do sometimes, and that's what it comes out lookin' like. ;) if the obj pointers are pointing to your new custom obj, there's an extra trick you have to do to get it to read the head from the p4 male. i THINK you put the full path of the obj in the geomhandler part, but i'm not sure. jeff? scott? help!
well actually the legs should have nothing to do with it (hopefully), since i did not touch them in the cr2 editor. the head is the only part that needs to point to an external OBJ. and although it is pointing correctly, i have random loss of body parts (they are still there, just invisible) i mean... TONS of people are doing this, every single person who posts on DAZ3D has to know how, so it seems like there has got to be a cut and dried way to fix it.. argh
Yes...any time you make changes you should delete the .rsr in the Geometries folder for that figure. I'm not sure I know what you are trying to do. But if you are getting invisible body parts. That means there are lines in the .cr2 file that don't match the .obj file it's looking for. If all you want to do is put an .obj pointer to a P4head. Then I think all you need to do is put this in your list of actors under the first .obj pointer heading: actor head:1 { geomCustom { numbVerts 0 numbTVerts 0 numbTSets 0 numbElems 0 numbSets 0 } storageOffset 0 0 0 objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:P4NudeWoman:P4NudeWom.obj } Just replace your current geomCustom info with those lines. This is the only way I know how to replace a body part by putting this info under the first pointer section Bloodsong. Is there another way to do it? I know how to switch body parts with a dial. But that's different and the alternate obj pointer goes under the second pointer section where the channels are. ScottA
heyas; i've never tried it, scott, so my impulse would be to skip the 'geom custom' parts and just put the storage and full obj pointer in. that doesnt work, huh? :) darkworld, that's geometry swapping; it uses codes swiped from the genital switch and poser 2 figure hands. there's files and info on that at the posertech egroup.

well, Jeremy Keller from the online store has been helping me try to figure out how to text edit the CR2 file so that i can point to OBJ files externally. it all sounded neat and tidy, i mean simply replace all the vertex gobble-dee-guck with a handler and offset statement, make sure the pointer at the top points to the correct geometry. well... when i did that as per the instructions, it loaded fine, no errors... and this was all that was left of my figure (who is headed soon for the store) needless to say im not there yet... would greatly appreciate the missing piece of the puzzle hehe. All i did in this case was replace the geomcustoms for the HEAD, as it is the only part left not using my own geometry, it uses OBJ for the P4 male. I have to make it external for copyright reasons.
