Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 02 10:01 am)
If i understand well, you're making your changes in a paint program, save it as a jpg with another name, call it in the material room as a image map, plug in in the correct node, and when you render all you see is the unchanged map?
Could you post some screenshot of your material settings and your render?
Here is what might be going on. Are you by any chance modifying the texture while poser is still open, and with the same scene? I've found that poser is lazy, and won't reload textures just because you changed the texture file. You can force it to reload by closing the scene and then re-opening it. I'm not sure whether this is still a problem in P7, but i suspect that it is if you are using textured shading in the preview.
Another way is to click on "reload textures" in the render menu (here where you tick "save shadow maps".
Vincebagna, I am not real sure what you are asking for since I am still really new at modifiny existing textures like this. I did find out that I could get the eyeshadows to load but I would have to manually click on the lips to get them to load. If you can explain a little more I could get you the shots you are asking for.
AnArdvark, come to think of it, yes poser was open when I was altering the mat textures. I just fired Poser 7 up and loaded the textures and it worked this time, but I still had to manually laod the lip texture to the face, is this normal?
I want to thank you both for the help you gave me, and to answer your question anArdvark it apears that Poser 7 is lazy also and you will need to force it to reload textures.
What i was saying is usually when you modify an existing texture it's as follow:
you open your original texture in a paint program (Photoshop, Painter, Gimp...)
you modify it by the way you want (using purchased psd or png files, etc..)
save it with another name not to overwrite your original files
in Poser, you call your modified texture maps instead of the original ones for all the body parts you want the modify
as Antonia said above, you can save it as a material collection
and if Poser was open when you did the modify, click on "reload textures" in the render tab on the menu bar at the top of your Poser window (if you can't see the changes immediatly, try to change the room in Poser, it seems you can view the changes only when changing room)

I recently bought a couple of Merchacant Resource make up kits for V4. I can apply the textures to the face that I am using and I can save it and pull it up and it shows the changes that I have made to the origional skin but when I apply it in the material room and then render it I can't get the changes to show up in the render. Is there a trick to using merchant resources that I am not aware of or am I not installing it correctly? Please help me with this. If it helps I am trying to use the Bice V4 face pieces.
