Subject: V4 Non-Sexy poses

mapps ( ) posted Tue, 27 November 2007 at 7:59 AM · edited Tue, 22 October 2024 at 11:10 PM

I'm looking for nice simple (not exotic or sexy) poses. like Drinking coffee, waiting for the bus, just standing around, Sitting on the couch, Sitting at the table, waling on the side walk. that sort of stuff. free or purchase is fine by me. I did search the market but most of what I found liked like "Runway Model" poses of "Playboy Bunny" poses. Actually some good action poses would be good too (not cat fight poses) like dive for cover, use pistol, punch, duck Kung-Fu etc. Any suggestions ya'll could make would be great :-)

You'll be asking for V4 Non-Skimpy outfits next!

mapps ( ) posted Tue, 27 November 2007 at 9:28 AM

I have a large selection of non skimpy outfits already for V4 and V3 ... believe it or not not every one uses Vicky for naughty fantasy :-)

I agree that "normal" poses are lacking, but it's not only for V4, it seems that there aren't many "normal" everyday type poses for all of the figures.  A couple weeks ago I was going through my pose runtime and saw that all of the male poses that I have are either model, kung fu, or sprawled over a chair in an attempt to look sexy while showing off everything the figure has, LOL

I used my $5.00 certificate on some normal chair poses for Michael.

Try this site.  There are several poses for V4.

Hi.
With out trying to sound sarcastic, why dont you make exactly what you need.
I start with an established pose eg Mike in erotic or sexy pose on a chair or standing I try to find a pose as near to what I want then I work on that until its done.

Loads of fun
LOL

And tedious :)  I like to tweak poses, but so many of the poses out there are so far from "normal" that you aren't just tweaking, you are redoing. I personally don't have the patience to do that which is why I use the ones that others make.

I agree, and I was only teasing. Like other respondents, I have been making my own poses by tweaking existing ones and I'm getting quite good at it now. It's a way of passing an evening when I've run out of ideas for scenes, and a library soon builds up.

The Poser 5 everyday poses can be applied to new figures and then tweeked to fit the figure. I find the Poser 4 and Poser 5 poses can go on the new figures without messing up the joints. You just have to adjust a little for the new body shape. I have had more success applying these old poses to new figures than the Poser 7 so-called Universal Poses or poses converted to Universal Poses.

I guess I need to stop being lazy and make up some non erotic, everyday poses for V4. I've started on some but never finish my problem is when I make the poses I've forgotten how to save them so when you have a morph it doesn't lose it when you apply the poses. Right now I have a few smoking and drinking coffee poses but until I remember how to save them so they don't change the morphs in a character when you apply them I've been too chicken to share them. Lot of help I am huh?

I have often wished that there were many more "everyday" poses available on the market -- for all figures.  About the only solutions that I've found are just as has already been suggested in this thread: either create your own poses from scratch, or else tweak existing pre-made poses to match your requirements.  These methods might not represent the least time-consuming way to achieve the desired results, but it's likely the only way at the moment.

If you do your poses from scratch, then at least you can say that they're unique.

Renderosity has some non-erotic V4 poses in the free section.

If you would like everyday poses, try using a BVH animation.  If you go to http:www.mocapdata.com , for example,  they have any number of everyday activities.  The movements are motion captures and are very natural and human looking (which I can't say for some still poses).  Just go to a frame with a pose you like and save the pose or just render it.

there are often difficulties with said bvh files as they're applied to poser figures, but good luck with that, mapps. I appreciate all the great freebies you've given us over the years.

Adam Thwaites has billions and billions of V4 poses.  Just by the
law of averages, some of them will be non-sexy.  Look in the Poser freestuff
at 3dCommune, select the pose category, and you'll run into them.

You should be able to apply the standard G2 poses to V4... they will require some tweaking but they have all the common stuff down.

All though I am capable of doing my own poses from scratch, time tends to be a problem. i spend an average of 75-150 hours on each set I make (the market ones and 30-50 hours on the free ones) and since i am always working on a set I have little time for anything else. the onloy time I get to work on poses is if I am doing them to include in a set.

This is the reason I'd rather purchase them if I can.

By the way I am working on a new larger freebie for Christmas. A old ramshackle Manger ... add your own own Wise men LOL ( I figure this way those that don't celabrate Christams still get a manger :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions :-)

Something I do sometimes when i can't find one particular pose that works is to save partial poses.

For example, a right arm pose from one premade pose. Leg poses from another premade pose, and a left arm pose from yet another package. Then go and apply each of them to my figure to get the pose I'm looking for, or close enough that I can just tweak a bit.

I have no clue how to make partial poses. but good suggestion :-)

Acadia ( ) posted Tue, 27 November 2007 at 9:07 PM · edited Tue, 27 November 2007 at 9:07 PM

It's actually pretty easy.

Just open the Pose library. Click on the + sign at the bottom. In the window that comes up  select the parts of the body you want to include for the pose. It will ask you if you want to save the morphs, say no because you only want the pose, not the character morphs saved.

For example if you want to save an arm pose, select the parts of the body  from the collar to the fingers of the desired arm or arms. If it's only hand poses, save it with the hand and fingers selected.  Again, don't forget to cancel the "save morpns" portion when asked :)

Props to Adam but don't forget Schlabber. He's considered the King of Poses. You may already know of him. If not, search on his name here and especially on the web. You'll see what I mean.
