I havent used poser 6 or 7 yet and I wanted to hear some comments and feedback from the people who have upgraded from poser 5. Please post your thoughts. Thanks.

poser 7 is better IMVHO. especially with OS X.

Unless you are at the peak of what Poser 5 can accomplish I wouldn't bother . The extra lighting features are nice , and you can do a few more things with python, but I find I am using none of that really in trying to make a good image .
If you think Poser 8 is going to be a while and you NEED to use V4 then certainly upgrade .

I have P5 and never any problems so, for myself, I don't feel the need to upgrade. Although, the Talk Designer alone would be worth the upgrade price. If you are heavily into it, I recommend upgrading to P7 before P8 comes out with new owners.

My system can't handle an upgrade of Poser at this time tho. If you do upgrade, make sure your computer system can take it because, P7 is a very, very, large file. It's a major leap from P5 to P7.

Just make sure your computer has the right specs before upgrading.

If I had the money I'd go directly to P7.

Skip P6. Get P7 instead.

I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade for 1 second. Ambient occlusion and area render alone are worth the purchase price in terms of time saved and realism gained.

I just purchased the upgrade from P5 to P7 today. I've only had a few moments to play (stupid work) but I am loving what I see. Area Render is nice especially when fine tuning materials, I really liked the content browser as well. It does seem to render faster and the render status seems to be a bit more accurate - it at least offers more details as to what it is doing. I can't wait to get this project I'm working on done so I can play some more.

Waitaminute... you can upgrade to P7 from P5?  Dang, I thought if you skipped a version, you couldn't upgrade any longer!  I just purchased the full P7.  😊

Oh well.  This thread reminded me why I should be excited about it, anyway....

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
