Subject: Gloves and clothing converters

Wardrobe Wizard doesn't handle gloves, which are a horrible extra complication for a clothing conversion system. Mostly is doesn't matter, but I have a few items--spacesuits and the like--which have integral gloves. If the figure has a gloved-hand morph, it's not a problem. Likewise, a pair of gloves can be used as a replacement. But what do the various conversion programs do to the mesh--leave it dangling, or drop it from the model? And if it is left in place, can it be hidden in Poser? Or is the best bet to export the mesh as a .obj, without the gloves, and then bring it into the setup room to make a new figure?

As you say Wardrobe Wizard does not convert gloves but we have not locked them out. If you look at one of my sample images you'll see Aiko wearing a V2 glove. It is a lucky exception and only presented as such but we have not arbitrarily deleted all the hand geometry.

An alternative is to use the original glove:-

Set the figure that will wear the glove in the zero pose.
Set the glove figure in the zero pose.
If the original glove figure contains both hands and/or other body parts set all but one hand invisible. For this example hide the left hand. (See tip below).
Select the glove figure's BODY and move it such that the right hand glove overlays the wearers right hand. You do not need to line up all the fingers,
With glove figure selected go to FigureSet figure parent and select the right hand of the wearer's figure.
Select the wearers figure and set the right hand and fingers invisible. (See tip below)
You can now pose the figure and the glove will move with it. To pose the hand select the glove and pose that.

Tips:
1)Remember that there are other ways to combine figures and clothing than simply conforming.

  1. To quickly set the hand and fingers invisible open the hierarchy window and Alt+click the eye icon next to the hand. This will set that body part AND ALL OF ITS CHILDREN invisible.

Hope that helps.

If you have the Clothing Converter (latest ver 3.2) I find it easy to do multiple conversions. These seem to work best: Aiko3->StephPetite3->Victoria3->Victoria4 and Hiro3->David3->Michael3->Freak

I reasoned this out as DAZ provides the A3-SP3 model and the H3-D3 model.
Freak is based on M3. You can also figure that V3-> SheFreak would work. Not too sure about SheFreak2 though.

I'll try XDresser with some V3 glove items going to a G2 model and post back.

Hmm.

They converted but there are some JPs in the fingers that need tweaking.

So Cross Dresser can handle gloves?  fingers crossed

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

I tried here and works, but will need some adjustments, maybe increasing the fix poke option we can get better results.

Will try that when I can. I just did a "out-of-the-box" conversion.

Thanks for the advice and reports on various software. I decided to edit the gloves out of the original mesh. Export the .obj using the group selection options, import and back into the Set-Up Room to put in the original rigging, and then convert. Using alternative gloves also fits with the overall look I'm going for--a sort of B-movie, low-budget, sci-fi feel.
