@ Fran: Here is a link to the set of HDRI probe files. The Zip is fairly large 100mg, but it's a really nice set. These were created by Keith Brun. He also has the usage terms file in the Zip.
HDRI-probe-FILES  (the one I used in the file in question was called kitchen)
Read on.

The backpage Link in the Forum header for HDRI's, has the link for HDR Shop software.
You can make your own HDRI files(remember to make them probe files)
I D/L'd version 1, it's Free.
I used my Avatar (large scale) image to create an HDRI probe file. I used this particular file to understand the layout that would be effecting the enviroment. Since I wanted to understand the reflective nature of the Probe I used a highly reflective map on the sphere and found out I had to reverse the image in Photoshop to have the reflection read left to right. (mirrors, hmm).
Backpage Link for HDRI stuff.

Floor Mat from Agentsmith

I know my moniker is not Fran although offscreen it is :m_shocked: ... but could I also take a look at these?

These I could add to my growing repertories of Bryce know how.

ICM,
104 megs ... so that's the plan - fill up the mouse's computer 0.1G at a time and soon it will be so full  all it wii do is burp and run off to the little computer's room every 5 minutes. Thanks man I will take a look at it ! !

RodsArt ( ) posted Sun, 02 December 2007 at 4:42 AM

hehe, ok ok, if the mouse house is limited to storage space, you can click on individual probes to find the ones you like, then click on the larger one on the right side to DL the single file, they're about 6meg each.

Are you sure it was called "kitchen"?  Cos I can't find one with that name...

You know, that list sounds exactly the same as the list of HDRIs already in Bryce6.  And I'd already searched those looking for the HDRI image to match what you'd used - without finding it.   Which is why I wondered...

I used to have all those HDRI's from the Bryce Forum backroom, pre car break-in, so I'm going to have to get them all again, only there's this render running, and I don't like to overload the PC while it's working, so I was hoping to just get the one file, or one set... whatever.

Oh well never mind...

Been searching the links for HDRI's and discovered that the aversis link needs updating, the HDRIs are now here:

And the 3DTotal link for a tutorial on how to create your own HDRI from scratch using PhotoShopCS2 - doesn't go anywhere at all.

If there is such a tutorial around it might be nice to change the link so it points to it, since I for one would like to know about this.

If it's possible...

Hmmm... i smell limited storage problems?
Well, i guess ill have to open some eyes here same way i do for all my friends who run outta diskspace.. a few years back, diskspace was expensive! And its somehow still stuck in peoples minds.. but its actually gotten bigtime cheap!
For roughly 100 euro's (= roughly $140USD = roughly 70 uk pounds) u can buy like half a terabyte of storage space!
To put it into perspective, thats 120 times the maximum amount of RAM most of our computers can use. Its roughly 50 times as much as a dual-layer DVD. Enough to store 5000 of those 100mb bryce files! I bought one and yes, once u have it, ull manage to fill it up (eventually), but still its about the best and most usefull bit of kit a regular computer user can buy for that kinda money.. it sure was the best 100 bucks i spent that  month..
For those too lazy to look up a good price offer, this is what i found in 3 minutes of searching, and it looks a pretty good deal: http://www.amazon.com/Maxtor-T01G500-OneTouch-External-FireWire/dp/tech-data/B000H9J3WA/ref=de_a_smtd

**Rayraz,

**Yeah, got one of them, it's nearly full, so I'm hoping for a new one for Xmas, or shortly afterwards.

...who's got storage problems? (looked up the thread and couldn't figure it out, so I wondered where you got that from.)

...well... when I say nearly full, I've got 54 gigs left... that's nearly full, isnt it?

Hang on, maybe it's when I said that bit about "don't like to overload the PC when it's working"?

I think that's just my normal paranoia, but I have in the back of my mind something someone once said about needing to set something so Bryce uses every bit of power it can... dunno if I've done that, but if it's anything to do with overclocking, I don't like to do that 'cos things overheat.

So I'm thinking that if I go merrily about downloading loads of stuff, won't that push Bryce's rendering to the back of the queue?
