Heyas

Before starting a transformers project get in touch with Valandar.. hes a total transformers nut :) and a rigging expert

I have some m2 skins that are modifiable and redistributable on my website, long as you dont sell them. But you're going to have to wait til my sysadmin sorts out the server issues.

people looking at clothing for Apollo, Kit and Koshini should check out the most excellent clothing convertor Crossdresser. You buy a license (ten bucks) for the figure you want to convert TO and then you can convert from all the other supported figures. Not free, but pretty darned good

People with poser can rig conforming clothing if they are brave. Use the Donor item method. You take an existing clothing item of the same general sort (or a catsuit) and change the geometry reference to your new obj. If you are lucky it works. Mind you without poser you wont be able adjust the joint parameters any

If you can get your hands on a copy of poser as old as 3 or 4 you can use the PHI method ro rig original figures. Many magazines have had poser 3 and 4 on cover cd's at this point

Okay, here is what I am wanting.  I would love to have a digitgrade dragon talon morph for the M3 or V3 models.  Kind of like the one for the Anika form, but instead of canid toes, they are dragon toes, complete with claws.  Umm... Is this possible to make for DAZ compatability?

I would like to see a lot of period pieces.  Everything from the Roman Empire to feudal Japan to the renaissance age.  Everything from Props to Conforming Clothing to characters.

Right now I am going nuts looking for a conforming kimono!

Hi to everyone from the West Coast!

I have seen a little plastic looking pumpkin trick or treat bag, does any one know where I can get this? I'm not sure if it's a freebie or purchased, but I'd sure like to have it. Thanks in advance.

The thing I've been wanting the most is a good duster coat for Aiko. So common an item in the world yet so hard to find...

Bea ( ) posted Mon, 15 October 2007 at 7:10 PM

don't we have to be careful here about copyright problems?

Mestophales ( ) posted Sun, 04 November 2007 at 10:23 PM

Hows about a blade?  With the handguard thicker than it is in the image.   And, without the black part on the handguard.  Otherwise, I would love to have this sword for a char of mine.

If your going to post freebies the please please make sure the filepath in your code is correct.

I am forever opening freebie (and some bought stuff) poser files (CR2, PZ2, etc) and having to change the filepath for texturemap from....

"C:stupid_foldernameanother_stupid_foldernameposercontentruntimetexturesmy_foldernamefluffy.jpg"
to what it should be.... ":runtime:textures:my_foldername:fluffy.jpg"

Our PCs don't all have the same filepathsstructure. So any filepath before ":runtime:.." get rid of.

Ping.

**battie,
**Okay, I've not done Poser stuff before, so I didn't know about that...  but if I wanted to get into it I would like to know the correct way to do it.

So... how do you get rid of part of the file path like you suggest?

Oh, I use PowerArchiver to do my zipping - does that make a difference?  (I usually have it set to not save paths - but then I'm not (yet) doing Poser stuff, just Bryce and .obj's and image textures.)

I clean up bad pathnames by opening the cr2, pz2, etc in a text editor and doing a "find and replace". Somewhat on the same subject: Macintosh computers do not like slashes (/) in the pathnames. (:

raven ( ) posted Thu, 29 November 2007 at 9:24 PM

I'm pretty sure that the free version of CorrectReference in the freestuff by hogwarden will set paths to relative (:runtime: etc) rather than absolute (C:.whereverwhatever etc).

Whazizname ( ) posted Fri, 30 November 2007 at 12:39 AM

Oops... I put the wrong slash in there, didn't I? {Guess you can tell I'm a Mac User... heheh} (:

(but I'm now searching for this "Correct Reference" thingie - whatever it is..)

Hi FranOnTheEdge

My coment wasn't specifically to you but in general. I'm relatively new myself and still experimenting. I wish I had more time to experiment.

I have Poser 5 that I got free on special last year from Content Paradise and also I have DAZ Studio 1.8 that I also got free this year. All for Windows PC (not Mac).

Anyhoot, I do what Whazizname said and use WORD or Notepad to edit files with bad filepaths. WORD for the larger files over 100kB and Notepad for the smaller files.

If you make your filepaths using the coln ( : ) instead of backslash ( ) then it works in both Poser and Daz studio on the PC. So it should work on the Mac too.

On another note I really like Daz Studio instead of Poser. I know Posers got more features but Daz Studio has got a fantastic clean interface and easier to set up scenes. Poser feels very chunky and outdated. I don't think I'll upgrade to Poser 7, it looks more of the same.

Best regards,
Ping.

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Mon, 03 December 2007 at 1:41 PM

**battie,

**You have to MAKE file paths?

Jings! Helpmabob!  :scared:

I think I'm better off just leaving Poser alone.

battie ( ) posted Mon, 03 December 2007 at 7:54 PM

Hi FranOnTheEdge

I know filepaths have to be made. But any filepath before ":runtime:" causes Poser and DAZ Studio to ask me where the heck is this file you want (in not so obvious words). It's especially annoying when I have to actually fix up the filepath in content addons that I have paid for, which is not much because there is tonns of freestuff on the web. Just Google for the freestuff but use "safe search" mode because "poser" has other meanings, sigh!

On another note I just downlowded DAZ Cararra Trial Demo version and fell instantly in love with its interface. But it's all about usability and content so its time to experiment with another 3D appz. Happy happy joy joy. Will this be the Xmas present I get myself?

Best regards,
Ping.

there's usually no copyright or nor trademark problem with the transformer things, as the copyright/trademark owner has much bigger fish to fry than some guy selling them on the 'squid. they can't afford to chase down every small-timer on the web. most of their effort is directed towards illegal DVD distributors and fake toy distributors.

This might sound strange, but I was wondering...if someone (namely me) missed one of the weeks of the holiday giveaway, is there any way to go back to that week?
OK, just wondering.
Thanks

Dude! (lol sorry, I'm oldschool) What I want more than anything - since V4 is officially out, is to have Daz release V3's morphs for FREE!!!

Ok, I know. That's a serious longshot, but hey! lol

Honestly though, conforming hair, CUSTOM, non Daz morph required morphs for V3 - especially M3 (cause there ain't any I've found) and textures. Can't have enough skins for V3 and her Daz friends!!! Oh, and a manual for Vicky4.1. One look at her and it was like learning Poser all over again from scratch! lol Yikes!!

I've got a Christmas wish list...but I'll save everyone the torture eg

What do we need.  Simple, More items for Luke and Laura.  COmpared to the other figures, there are hardly any freebies for them, and most of the ones that are out there are pretty old or not that useful.  Clothing especially.  I wish there was an MFD for Laura...

Madrigal ( ) posted Tue, 18 December 2007 at 4:15 PM

Making a correctly pathed zip - on PC only, this doesn't work on a Mac.

If you make a folder in the root of drive C and call it Runtime, then just copy into there everything that you want to put in your zip file for your freebie. Make sure your new Runtime folder includes all the correct folders where you want your freebies to install to so that it is all set out exactly like it was originally in your Poser runtime.

If you now copy all your files into Winzip and check the box that says use complete path info, you should end up with all your paths starting from Runtime. :)

What I made: 2 texture sets for M2, posted on Sharecg, a 2 texture/morph set for Miki 1, also on sharecg. One of my already uploaded free sets is for V2 and V3. Would be nice to see some more stuff for Laura and Luke.

Same time, it would be just as nice to see a couple of reasonably-supportable male figures, too. Finding guys to make poses for can be a little challenging ;)

I'm going to get off my soapbox now, and let you get back to your day

Hmmm. A SciFi naval uniform, like the Manticoran Navy uniform from the Honor Harrington
series of books. Getting something like this for the guys an gals would help get my ships
crewed. :) It's odd that with the popularity of SciFi, that the Navy is the one area neglected.
