Subject: Give Away Adobe and Other User Manuals?

whbos ( ) posted Mon, 03 December 2007 at 2:43 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:18 AM

I didn't know where to post this, but I have a number of Adobe User Manuals, including one for Photoshop 7, that I want to give away because the other alternative is to thrown them out.  I'm bogged down by too many manuals that I don't use anymore and I'm planning to move next year and don't want to take up space for things I don't need.  I also have a few Adobe Classroom In A Book manuals that I'm also willing to part with.

Can I legally give away the user manuals or should I just toss them?  As for the "Classroom In A Book" books, I noticed there are a number of used ones already available on Amazon.com, and I've never sold anything there so that might be a problem.

If I can give them away (recipient pays postage), where do I start?  I searched online, but the only thing I found close to what I was asking was "Half Price Books" and their website noted that "dated" books don't sell very well.  I also don't know about the legality of giving away user manuals.  I'm not sure if this violates the TOS for the company that distributes the software.  I also have the Poser 5 & 6 manuals that I no longer need.

I'm just guessing that maybe someone at a public library would know?
Maybe a local school?

Either that or a second hand book store. I've seen other software manuals at my local second hand book store. Not sure how much you would get for them.

Donate to your local library! They not only need these but appreciate the donation! :)

Is there water in your future or is it being shipped away to be resold to you?

Craigs list? I bet someone would take it off your hands rather quickly if you posted to a local listing.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I will try public libraries and schools.  I'm not interested in getting any money for them.  I just want to get rid of them.

Yup I always donate to the library, and I find the smallest one in the area as they usually don't get computer books. If you have the CD that came with the book that's a plus. Not the program CD, the tutorial CD from the classroom in a book series. I know you know this but there is always someone out there ready to scream piracy if you don't make yourself perfectly clear...lol
