Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
If you can animate the figure in its original scene (PZ3) file, you can
then save the action only as an animated Pose (PZ2).
In detail: First animate the figure in its original scene.
After animating, select the figure, find an appropriate folder under Poses
(or create a new folder) then hit the Plus sign at the bottom of the Poses column.
Poser will ask you whether to save a multi-frame pose; say yes and
pick the appropriate range of frames. It will then ask you a couple of
other questions; most likely you should say Yes to Include Morph Channels
and say No to Include Body Transformations.
You can then start fresh with the Cemetery; import the figure PZ3 using
the File:Import Poser Document choice (not File:Open!). Then select
the figure and move the BODY to your desired starting point. Then pick
the animated pose you made before. Poser will ask if you want to add frames;
say yes.

Well . . . . I got the figure into the Lost in Graveyard scene, both as .pz3 files. However, as I may have stated before, the figure is automatically positioned in the center of the scene upon import. I do not know how to position (move) the figure; whenever I try to select the figure, I usually get a body part or part of the scene and move it. I now, obviously, need help on moving my figure. Thanks for everyone's help! weet335
OK . . . . . Please bear with me . . . . . I've got the BODY (figure) selected, but I still can't move it. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but only the lights and cameras can be moved along the x,y and z Axis . . . . ? Can I use the mouse to move the figure into position (seems I can't)? If you can go to the LOST IN GRAVEYARD file located in the Renderosity marketplace, you will see that I am being positioned (figure) by the open tomb and I want to move the figure to start my animation on the sidewalk outside of the graveyard. Thanks weet335
The BODY normally has xtran, ytran, and ztran dials. If you don't see
them, you can unhide them...

If they are present but nothing happens, you may have a deeper problem.

To move the whole figure:
In P6, from the Window menu make sure that 'Paramiter Dials' is enabled. At the top of your document (scene) window you will see two drop down menus, from the left menu select the figure you want to work on, eg 'Figure 1', from the right menu select 'Body', form the paramiters pallet use the xTran and/or zTran dials to move the figure. See above graphic.
To move a figure that already has an animation applied to it:
In frame one, load a Poser square primitive, use 'Set Figure Parent' from the 'Figure' menu to parent the figure to the square, move the square so that the figure is in the desired start position for the animation, from the square's 'Properties' menu turn off its visibility. Run the animation, if necessary adjust the position of the square, but in frame one only.
Finally I've been able to move the figure I imported into my scene. What I need to do now is re-work the animation. I will redo the figure and the animation and reinsert it into the scene. It will work. Thanks all for your help. I think I may have this thing worked out, although as I get more ideas I will have more questions. weet335

Hi . . . I'm not exactly new to Poser, but only recently have I been getting interested in working with it. I recently purchased "Lost in Graveyard" from Renderosity (Poser file). I would like to incorporate a figure (animated) that I created in Poser 7 into this pre-designed Poser scence. When I import it into the "Lost in Graveyard" scene, it appears in the center of the scene. I would like to move the figure to the sidewalk portion of the scene. Any help with importing figures that are saved as .pz3 into scenes that are saved as .pz3 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks weet335
