How is a psd file  ie: eye makeup on multiple layers applied to a poser figure.  I know what a psd file is I just don't know how to use them on poser figures.

I would add them to the skin texture image in Photoshop.

You can use the blend node in poser to mix the two image maps together .

Poser does not support Photoshop PSD for textures.  It only supports them for background images and render image export (unless it was omitted from the manual).  So, as markschum notes, you'll need to do something with it in Photoshop and turn it into a regular image (bmp, gif, jpg, png, tif, etc.) for use as a texture map in Poser.  You can either add the layer to an existing skin texture in Photoshop or use alpha transparency to allow blending of the skin and overlay texture in Poser as noted.

A slight correction: A psd file can be used in any node in Poser (I use Poser 5, maybe this has changed...); I often leave the psd unflattened so that i can be sure that the changes I've made are liked before commiting it to a final (smaller) file format. So, depending on how the psd is setup, and your skill with nodes(masks, and/or blender in this case), it is possible to use psd makeup files directly in poser. (:

I was afraid that someone would stumble in here and mention that it works experientially. ;)  It's great that the manual mentions the image formats supported for nodes (nowhere that is).  This also appears to work in Poser 4 ProPack, even with Photoshop CS2 PSD files.  Who knew (not me that is)?

Thats your problem. NEVER READ THE MANUAL !!!  Then you wont be confused and you will just do it . :)

In photoshop just go to Layer - Flatten Image,   (hide the layers you don't want to show).
It will ask if you want to discard hidden layers (check yes for now trust me).
Then go to file >save as > name.jpg

as soon as you are done saving hit - edit > step backward
youll see all your layers come right back = D
at this point I suggest saving your file as a PSD file as well (this will keep all your layer information)

I constantly update both .jpg and .psd saved versions of my files.
Hope this helps a bit.  - If not Im always available via PM ; )
happy texturing!
