Subject: Looking for: - a free, lo-res, male slob

diolma ( ) posted Mon, 17 December 2007 at 4:52 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 3:39 PM

I suspect the title says it all, and I also suspect that I'm not going to get any useful links, but you never know:-)

For a pic I'm working on I need several background figures of the sort you'd rather not have standing next to you. Beer-swilling, objectional, loud-mouthed, smelly yobs of all ages. With lo-res meshes. Poser-ready (preferably with face-morphs).

Not the sort of thing that comes up very often in free-stuff..

I have all the P3-P5 males, plus Mike 3 (although mike 3 is a little poly-heavy for what I need).
And ApolloMax and that Sixus male (Adam?), but again they're too poly-heavy for what I want.

Clothing is not a requirement (in fact it'd be in the way - the figures WILL be clothed, but I can make the clothing myself).

Alternatively - which figure from the above list is easily morphable (in Poser) into the shape I want? (I've already tried several, and got miserable results).

I could do it all myself, by exporting a .obj, creating morphs in Hexagon, importing back into Poser, applying the morphs, posing, saving the file and importing that into Vue, decimating the figure.... But it's just for a single render for fun, not for profit. It's not worth the effort...

So if anyone knows of any sobs available, I'd be much obliged.
(OTOH - if there's enough people who would be willing to PAY for slob-morphs, I might be prepared to try to create them, for sale)

Cheers,
Diolma

Many thx, Acadia, but I'm not a member of poseraddicts, and I'm paranoid about joining sites I know nothing about.. - especially just for something as trivial as this..

Do you want a toon slob, or a real guy slob?

Why not use makehuman?  I've been messing around with it the last couple days and find it fairly impressive.

Senya by Alexandr Nesterenko looks a bit slobbish. You can get him at 3D Commune, but if I recall, he's a bit pricy.

If a non-posable background filler is ok, Baumgarten has a homeless guy sleeping under a blanket. Down near the bottom of the archives page.

Many thanks for all your replys, but alas, most of them won't work for me.

I can't afford to buy anything (I can't even afford to buy a new pair of jeans for myself, even tho the ones I've got have got big holes in embarassing places, due to riding a push-bike).

I suspect I'm just going to have to import Dork into Hexagon and create the morphs I want (if I can - FBM morphs is something I've never tried so far)...

Then import the figures into Vue and decimate them...

Cheers,
Diolma

Is this something like what you're wanting?

BTW, this is M2. I'll be uploading him to my free section if I can figure why this happens when I apply a regular pose...

LOL! BluEcho, and yes, that's very much the sort of character I'm looking for (plus some of those skinny types that seem to hang around close to those guys). Except without the sideways head-shuffle, of course:-)

Hmmm - That looks rather as if one of your morphs aren't created from a totally zeroed .obj.

I love this character and especially the beard and it's texture! Exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be looking out for your free-stuff entry! In the meantime I've decided to use V3 and her "Male" morphs then decimate the results in Vue.

Good luck with the figure!
Cheers,
Diolma

Had the same type of problem once before and still don't kniow why.

If my PoserPro Pak would work again (loads a blank work window) I could do it right.
But I tried to use MPE3 to create the morph pose and this is the result.
I'm using P7 and still got lots to leanrn...lol.

BTW: this has asecond texture, a black texture that really looks good on any M2.

If you want a skinny, ugly character, just go to my freestuff here and get "Ugly for V3" then use the male setting to get a skinny, ugly guy.

This may be delayed for a bit because we might have to take Mom to the hospital again.
The pacemaker is not doing what they promised and she is not feeling well.
Blue lips, swollen purplish feet and a purple tongue.
And very short of breath as well.
I'm very worried about her.

But this character is easy to do, just twiddle the dials to make him heavy, adjust the face dials a bit more and make his teeth gapped.

I can just upload the textures for no unless Mom has to go tonight.

Okay, I tried every way I could and the morph won't work right...sigh. In Poser 4 and Pro I just saved it as a mor pose and all was well, but it won't do it in P7 for some reason. I tried by doing the character save with PMB off and again with them on. Tried to make it INJ with the PMd file and no luck. So I just uploaded both textures to freestuff here and hosted on Sharecg. Would have put this notice in freestuff forum but this thread is already here. :) Here's a screen shot of both textures... and a link... http://www.sharecg.com/pf/SaHaNi Nudity flag is because the texture images on Sharecg have some nudity.

Hi Helen,

Just downloaded your "Jeb" zip - will look at it tomorrow  (Hey! - It's Christmas!). I can always do with more textures:-)
Must check out the rest of the stuff you've got there...

In the last few days I did further searches of free-stuff and found some stuff for Dork (P4 Male). Some textures and some additional morphs (at least, I think that's what I found - my memory of the last few days is a tad hazy..)

But anyway, the above is what I ended up with. There are some mesh problems caused by the pose, but since it's for a background figure and only partly seen, it'll work for what I have in mind.
Oh, and Dork's wearing a dynamic skirt by svdl (for V2) 'cos it was quicker to do that than create my own whatever-they're-called that they wear in the east..

Cheers,
Diolma

REMC had a freebie fattish male dude in his site.  However, he's since sorta shut it down due to monetary restraints, so you'll have to e-mail him and ask for it in order to get it.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Mon, 24 December 2007 at 7:15 PM

I gotta say the Dork sure looks different there. :)

I like that hairy texture. I want to do one myself but still haven't mastered the technique from a MR pack for body hair brushes by ...hmmm, forgot who and it's a bought pack.
Got to look it up in my folders.

Got a judy texture/morph started too and a Miki1...whew, busy lately. :)

hope you find more stuff you like.
Have a great Christmas.

Helen

It's probably too late, but if you downloaded them when they were free (and they might still be), V3 and M3 lowres by daz were pretty useful. They had all the morphs as their regular counterparts, but at a much reduced geometry. I think they were included as part of the 3d started package DAZ made available right after the first release of daz studio. There was both a poser and a studio download.

REMC's Fat Guy is indeed the perfect solution for you: he came with a texture set for the P4 clothing as well as a beer can prop. I realy recommend getting in touch with him about this: the guy is verty lo-rez compared to the polygon weight of any of the Mil characters.

Many thanks for all the suggestions:-)

I'll work through them, .... gradually ...

The P4 character posted above actually suits my requirements quite well, and saves me having to faff around with decimating meshes and all that stuff.
For anyone interested, the character and the texture came from a package called "MorphManBonus" by momodot. It's still in the freestuff, somewhere..

Cheers (and merry Xmas)
