Hello All,
Curently I work on a litle project for myself.
The project is about a girl with a Japanese father and European mother.
So she hase to have both characteristics in her.

As a base I used Jessi and fidled around with magnets.
Below is the result so far (on the left =) )
I am interested to know if I did catch the right look.

I am totaly new to 3D modeling, so any advice is welcome =)

Thanks in advance.

might want a bit more epicanthic fold. I think that's a dominant gene (but what do I know?) maybe the lacrimals can move away from the nose (I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about).

It's a great looking model, regardless...

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Thanks,
I wil try and see what it looks.

I am not a expert myself eather and used the characteristics as far as I know them.
I widend the nose, cheekbones and jaw a bit.
And lifted the lower eyelid.

I think the eye's came out pretty nice, she looks quiet furyous =)

I don't know that I have any good advice to offer but I thought Id say -

she rather looks like she could be the mother of the one on the right.
The angry mother.

get miki or aiko instead.

An excellent try, but the face might be a little too long. If you haven't already, try google-image and search for japanese face. Jessie is not an easy character to work with.

Well done, though. I wish I could help more.

I hesitated for a long time before I added this, 'cos I'm very much against anything that might be percieved as a personal attack, but I found Miss Nancy's post to be offensive. No help given to a newcomer, just a dismissive remark. Probably well suited to her current avatar, but (IMVHO) totally unnecessary and unwanted. Sorry for that, but I like to think that this forum's here to help, not to put people off. If this remark starts a flame-war of any description I'll make any apologies necessary and revert to my previous stand of avoiding anything that is irrelevant to the actual topic of the thread.

Cheers,
Diolma

oops! sorry about that. anyway, good luck with jessi. miki might still be an easier starting point.

Thanks for the help and pointers all.

Jessi is not a easy person to work with indeed, kind of my type =)
Well I searched the web for pictures and looked around for characteristics.
And started working on Jessi with the found info.
Had to add quiet a few magnets, so I better keep her away from metal objects ;-)

The end result is fairly good I think, and I still can tweek her with the new dials.
I even added a dial for the Epicanthal fold.
I slowly get her to were I want to, but still a lot of work to do.

The eyes dont quite seem so much a Euro-Asiatic mix as just squinting in bright light. You have them curving up along the base line when Japanese eyes are more straight lines. Even mixed with a European curve (which goes down along the base), you'd still see something a bit opposite of what you're presenting now.

Here is an image to inspire you. ^^ Model is from Singapore (I think). She is a mix of Asian, White, and India. Her brow and eyes looks asian in the same way as the girl from Smallville (Kristen Kreuk), and her stature is more petite. Other than that, she looks like a white women with a creamy tan. I could see her as a good character for 3D. Perhaps she would work for Jesse, Miki, Aiko, V3 or V4? Here is a list of mixed Asian celebrities. You can google their names for pictures to get ideas for your East/West character. Good luck! http://www.asiansofmixedrace.com/picdex.htm bB

Thanks SeanMartin for the pointer.
I get the feeling that the curve up is more Chinese.
The epicanthal fold in the close up is a bit to heavy, now every time I look at it it gives me the idea of a vampire from Buffy. =)

So more adjustment needed.

BastBlack, thanks for the link.
That is some great material there to work with.

The lighting in the renders are not great, just set up to light them.

Well back to my dials and magnets =)

As a side note, I made the Dragunov in Blender.
Not perfect yet, need to fidle around with the textures more.
But thats a problem to deal with later =)

Something I would suggest is getting rid of that excessive nostril arch. One of the main reasons I've done very little work with Jessie is 'cos of that - I don't recall seeing anyone (well, maybe one) with nostrils like that. Which (IMHO) makes them rare, and in the CG world, screams "Jessie".
Much like Judy's lips do...

Cheers,
Diolma
