Don't have a lot of funny photos but I've always liked to play with people's faces. I don't like photographing them but manipulating is fun. My son, of course - do it to it! :-D

Cute kid!  I did not pinch or punch or distort his face in any way.  Just changed the colours.

He is such a fine looking young man I will work something up and not loose his looks, hopefully.

I too wanted to retain this young man's good looks. Some levels adjustment and a faded border was added, then film grain. Then I copied the layer and made it sepia, and adjusted the transparency to 80%. Then I went back in and recolored his eyes...i hope that is close to their real color! ;']

Come on guys, don't be shy! LOL! I know I have a handsome son, that's why I show off! :-D

But it doesn't mean you can't play around. If I was afraid he wouldn't look so good, I'd have posted this photo in my gallery, not here!

I love the colors, Fred - the next week's DITI is yours for sure. And Kort, it's a great effect. Yeah, his eyes are more less this color. Depending on what he's wearing they're either blue or greenish.

Heh! Here's what I came up with. When I showed it to my son, he almost fell on the floor! :-p

I see that markablue threw caution to the wind by asking,

Don't have a lot of funny photos but I've always liked to play with
people's faces. I don't like photographing them but manipulating is fun.

My son, of course - do it to it! :-D

Here's another spin on this thread.

My own contribution is limited -- my photomanipulation skills are nonexistant.

OTOH, I want to tell you about something I saw in an art book ...

You may or may not be familar with the fantsy artists,
Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell ... and their web site, www.imaginistix.com ...

Their technique is to work from reference photographs ... and then
go on to highly imaginative fantasy images.

In one of my art books by Julie Bell, she includes a fantasy image that
was originally based on a photograph of her son.

In the caption for that image, (as I recall), she said that she asked him
to look "ferocious" ... the resulting final image is called "Child's Play"

... IMO, your son is too much of an angel for that treatment ... isn't he?

markablue, what do you think?

Boris and Julie. Amazing fantasy artists with the egos to match. That is a funny take on Marka's DITI Martin, contrasting well with Marka's little angel. ;']

OMG! Yeah, you just reminded me! I love it!  I used to play like that a few years ago. Here are two of my best. Hope you don't mind my sharing it here?

I'm a Star Trek fan first and foremost, so here's Chris (some 4-5 years ago) as a Vulcan:

And, since he was a Spiderman fan at the time, I did that one for him as well:

Still waiting for more crazy ideas! :-D

Oh, and Kort, wonderful manip! You almost made him look like when he was three. I love it!

Those are great Marka. A Trekker, eh? My daughter's name is Kyra, can you guess who she was named after? ;']

Marka, I thought of adding devil horns, stuff like that to show the "inside of a boy" hidden by angelic looks but just couldn't do it to it.  This is your kid..I guess that is why.

This is more of a portrait look and my second is the same in BW with a very, very slight hint of color in the eyes.    Tom

Do you have Chris speaking English as well as do you?

BW with a hint of color in the eyes...no devil horns but I was tempted.

*OK, I guess I'll be the one to draw a little devil out of this cute kid...

OldHippieKeyboard ( ) posted Wed, 23 January 2008 at 6:38 AM

I hope we're allowed two tries ... I was intrigued by the effect created in this version and just had to include it.  I ran it through a chromium filter but decided to leave the magical color of those eyes alone.

As far as I'm concerned, you are allowed as many tries as you fancy. These are lovely! The devil one is absolutely fantabulous! Thanks, guys! And more, please. :-D

about each of the morphed images.

I would be interested to hear that too. Are you interested in starting the next DITI next Monday Martin?

I'm almost afraid to show him! LOL! He's pretty particular about what I post of him on the Internet (yeah, I know, I shouldn't have taught him!). I hope he'll forgive me when I tell him this was just among friends... will show him tomorrow and post his comments.

forgive me when I tell him this was just among friends...

As I recall, on Wednesday, markablue also said,

will show him tomorrow and post his comments.

Wellllll ... it's tomorrow, already ... and I'm holding my breath
waiting to hear all of your son's comments ... and yours, too.

p.s., Tom, did you follow the link to "Child's Play" ?

Liam. ( ) posted Sat, 09 February 2008 at 3:14 AM

I'm sorry I was away for some time... Okay, I showed these to my son and he said he'd kill me at first but then we both had a good laugh. Of course he hates me for showing his images I did when he was younger (especially the Vulcan one) but from your submissions, the winner is MGD :-D He wanted both eyes made like that but even the one makes him look dangerous (his words). Second place went to OldHippieKeyboard  LOL! I think he's into evil look these days.

Thanks for participating, everyone! :-)**

I'm so use to messing with my step-daughters photos so she can post them on her MySpace. She thinks it's really cool.... your son may not!!! LOL :P
