Subject: New DS update?

AnnieD ( ) posted Sun, 27 January 2008 at 6:49 PM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 9:38 AM

Did anyone get the e-mail from Daz to get an update for Studio?
And....if so, has anyone installed it yet?

I installed it as soon as it came out.  (Brave or dumb, lol).

It fixed a problem with V4 poses hanging up Studio, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks...
I just finished installing it so I don't know yet how it will do.  I've been really lucky so far about not having any problems with DS...I expect this one will probably be ok.
I'll play around with it later and hopefully all will be well.  :)

No I never got an email about it..and it's not listed as a news item on the site.It only appears in the DS Forum over at DAZ so the first I heard was from you lot.

They are a funny company that way..Some things get a big fanfare, others are just sort of dropped into the conversation.

I should have been more clear I guess...lol
The email was the normal weekly newsletter and the notice of the update to 1.8.2.1  was at the bottom of the newsletter.  The link takes you to download.com I think.

It wasn't an email for the update alone.  I guess if someone didn't look at the whole newsletter they would have missed it.

When I put it on my Poser 6 refused to work.  I thought a reinstall would fix it so I uninstalled Poser 6 and then today, I tried to reinstall Poser 6.  It would not even let me use the disk to click the install.  I then tried my Poser 5.  It did the same thing.  I tried to enter it as a possible bug and got a notice back from DAZ that I was using an invalid user and Id.  I have always had the same user and Id.  I hope I did not let it change anything in the reg or anything so that I will have to take it to a pro to get it all undone.

There is a ! on the event viewer where Studio was installed.  I sure am upset!!!!

Dose anyone know what has happened.  If no one answers I will call DAZ tomorrow..

I am running windows XP home edition.  I installed the new updated DS and everything is working fine so far...no problems.  Are you using windows or Mac?
Did you let it install the c++?
Can you roll everything back to a previous date before you installed...and then try to see what is going on?

edit:
I also have poser 6 installed and nothing changed.

I use Windows XP Pro as well.  I uninstalled it completely and then put my Poser 6 back on.  It went right on after uninstalling the New Daz, I wish I still had the old one to put back on.  I am hoping that it is in my recycle.  I will let you know if I can find the old one.

My son in law said to just go back and wait till the next upgrade then try installing it.  I am frustrated because I also just found the little script thing that allows you to transport as a CR2 directly into Poser.  I was just thinking it might come in real handy.

OH, I should have said he is a software engineer so I think he might know how to keep me out of trouble.  I hope!!

Anybody install it on a Mac? I ask because I am running version 1.7 because version 1.8 (version prior to this upgrade) had a faulty Mac renderer. Anybody know about this?

Thanks,
Vincent
