Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 30 6:52 am)
If you think it is a permissions problem use the disk utility app and repair permissions. Have Vue on order so I am not a real user until a few more days. Is there a setting in the prefs that you set as a target to where you save files? User name for old machine to new machine the same? Drive names the same? Those are a few things I would check. Sounds to me like Vue doesn't recognize either its location or you as a user.

You guys are great! Wabe, as soon as I read your post, I realized that I had had some trouble with transferring my login, so I followed grichter's advice to check it with the utility (I used the installer utility); sure enough, when I reset my admin password, everything started working.
I'm grateful, but a little embarrassed, as I used to provide Mac support in-house at a publisher, and should have been able to figure this out on my own...

Glad it worked...I am climbing the walls waiting for my copy of Vue to show up. When it does I am sure you can return the favor and answer my question(s). However I am sure I will have more then one :)

Hi. I just got a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, largely in order to speed up my renders from my previous platform, a G5 iMac. I was running Pro Studio 6.50-04 build 291916 on that setup with good results/ I used Migration Assistant to move my stuff over to the new setup, and it renders like a dream. Unfortunately, it won't save .vue files (I get a dialog stating that it's impossible to create the file), it won't save animations (a dialog reads that a Quicktime file could not be created), and it won't save stills (crashes every time!). So that render speed is kind of useless right now...
I've completely deleted all Vue 6 files from the Intel iMac and manually copied the installation files from the G5, but after re-installing there's no change.
Any thoughts on where to go next? Thanks.
