Subject: Help with downloaded content in Poser 7 and other General help

gvb27xcoin ( ) posted Wed, 20 February 2008 at 2:27 AM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 11:03 PM

Ok, I am new to poser ....I own poser 7...and recently purchased Salome for Aiko 3.......my question is......what does Aiko 3 mean? Is that a specific model I have to buy or is it already in the poser application? If it is a model, where do I find it ?

By the way, if I double click on the icon in the library palette of let's say - Salome's eye's or make-up.....will it automatically apply to a character in the canvas/pose area? If not, than what method do I have to follow to get a character to appear as Salome?

I've also purchased (The Girl Next Door 2 Athletic), which is still pending........
but I would like to know in advance......if anybody else purchased that product - does it come READY to use......as in once unzipped, is it a model in the library already done and ready to be edited?

Last, what does v4 stand for?

Thanks in advance.....while I wait for responses.....I'll browse the PDF manual.

You may want to have a look at www.daz3d.com.

The most used female figure in Poser used to be Victoria 3, this is about to switch to Victoria 4. Both figures are available from Daz, they are not part of Posers standard install.

There still is a Download at CNet with the four of the base figures of DAZs version 3 models, so you don't need to spend money for the base figures. But they mostly come without the morph packs.

The "Girl next door 2" needs Victoria 3 to work, the base figure is enough, since Blackhearted made his own morphs. Victoria 3 is included in the download below too.

Download here:
www.download.com/Poser-DAZStudio-3D-Models-Pack/3000-6677_4-10579249.html

If you use Windows:
The models (exept for the DAZ ones, which come with an .exe installer) are supplied as .zip file. Usually this includes a runtime folder, which you should move in your main runtime, or your download runtime, or any other runtime folder you may have created. You will find the stuff in the library then.

Aiko 3 is a separate model which has just been superseded by Aiko 4, available for purchase at Daz3d. Double-clicking Salome's eyes or makeup will have no effect whatsoever unless you have the Aiko figure already loaded into your scene and selected as the active character.

Girl Next Door is an addon for the Victoria 3 figure, also available from Daz3d.

And V4 is Victoria 4... the latest version of Victoria. Current version is 4.2 and yep... needs to be purchased from Daz3d.

Take your credit card over to Daz3d and welcome to the money-pit that is Poser. :(

Just to add as a note: A character packet for Victoria 3 (V3) will not work with Victoria 4 (V4). Same goes with Aiko, so don't buy Aiko 4 for your Salome - you need Aiko 3 for this.

Use my download link above for the base figures. You cannot download them for free at DAZ's site anymore, but the free packet at Download.com still is available - either they have forgotten that they put it there, or they don't care. Either way, the download there is still available and legal.

The package above just includes the main figures. Most character packages require that you own the morph packages too, those you can get at DAZ's main site.

Salome requires Aiko 3 complete.  The Aiko 3 you d/l from Cnet is Aiko3 LE.  You can use the texture that comes in the pack with the LE but the morphs won't work without the A3 morphs.

GND is a morph for the V3 figure.  The base is in the Cnet d/l but you will need the head and body morph packs to make it work.

Did you check the readme and the product page for required products before you bought them?  It's a good idea, especially when you're just getting started, to really check out things before you buy.  Don't get caught up in the "...oooh shiny..." thing.  If you don't know, ask here in the forums.

GND works without the head and body morphs.

Blackhearted makes his own morphs, you cannot get this result with the standard morph packet - as I stated already earlier. For Salome's shape you will need the morphs.

GND 2 is a good morph for the Victoria 3 model, particularly as it doesn't require that you purchase the additional head and body morphs package.  Frankly, I think GND 2 as also good as anything available for the newer Victoria 4.  Finding clothing that fits is an issue, though.  I suggest that you do some searches at Renderosity (almost every thing for GND 2 is there).  Don't wait too long to do this as some of these items are disappearing.
