Fractals F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Aug 27 11:19 am)
Duncan,
I use Ultra Fractal, and do many fractals that are very strongly 3D in looks; I get the 3D effect by using color in very deliberate and calculated ways. You should take a look through my gallery, as I've got many 3D fractals in there.....well, I certainly would call them 3D, at least....just go back a page or two, and you'll find them!

A number of people here have worked with Ferryman Fractals and have enjoyed that software very much. Spanzhang is the author of the program, and he is very good about answering questions. I hope that helps. You could try searching (ferryman) in the galleries to find people who have used it.

Fractals will always amaze me!

I have a fractal rendering app for Macintoshes called FractalWorks. Right now it creates quadratice Mandelbrot and Julia set fractals, but I may expand it at some future date to create other types as well.
Right now I'm focusing on creating 3D fractals, and am having good early results. Here's an early example:
And here's a link to another one:
Purple Elephant Julia 3D Is anybody else here creating 3D fractals? I didn't see any in a quick browse of this forum. If you are creating 3D fractal images, what tools and methods are you using, and can you show some samples? I'm creating height maps using a distance estimate algorithm, and then creating a true 3D model using OpenGL. Duncan C
