Dear estherau;
Here is JoePublics tutorial on making my remap MAT posable (I could have done this myself, but de3cided not to after all the flak I got just from remapping her.  There are people here who wish to out-DAZ Daz itself.

***Part 1:  Open the remapped V4.1 object in UV mapper.

Select -->select by --> material

Highlight all materials you want to reassign
by holding ctrl.

Then:
Tools --> assign to --> material

Type in the EXACT name of the matching V3 material.
(You better make a list beforehand with all of V3's material names)
You get a warning that the new material doesn't exist.
Press "OK" to create it.

Do this for all materials EXCEPT the eylashes, eyes and mouth/teeth/tounge as these were not remapped, so they must keep their original V4.1 names.

Save the object and turn it into a figure using the Setup room and the V4.1 cr2 (just two mouseclicks), or hack a V4.1 cr2 with a text editor.

To texture her, first apply a V4.1 mat for the lashes/eyes and mouth/teeth/tounge, then a V3 mat for the rest. (Or vice versa)
If you're going to use a certain V3 texture more frequently, use the material room to make a material collection (mc6) that combines the V3 and V4 textures you used, so the next time you can texture your V4.1 from head to toe with a single click.

(You can also make material collections if you textured her manually

Part 2:
Question: 'what about EyeSocket and Lacrimal?'***

***Answer: Leave them like they are.
Same with any other eye, lashes, mouth, tounge and teeth material.

Only reassign THESE materials :

V4.1 material         V3 material

2_SkinFace     --> SkinHead
2_SkinHead    --> SkinScalp
2_SkinNeck    --> SkinNeck
3_SkinTorso  --> SkinTorso
3_SkinArm      --> SkinArm
3_SkinForearm --> SkinForearm
3_SkinHand      --> SkinHand
3_Fingernail     --> Fingernails
2_SkinHip       --> SkinHip
3_SkinLeg     --> SkinLeg
3_SkinFoot   --> SkinFeet
3_Toenail      --> Toenails
1_Lip              --> Lips
1_Nostril       --> Nostrils
2_Nipple      --> Nipples

***I hope that this is of value to you.
Yours truly,
David P. Hoadley

David:

I am sorry, but I do not understand what you are saying as well as estherau does. Are you relating how to apply your remap of V 4.1 to the new V 4.2? If so, as a novice I think I need a few intermediate steps in the recipe.

Sorry people gave you a hard time over your work. There are some hardcore DAZ groupies who think that DAZ cannot survive without their constant vigilant protection. Seeing that a more versatile V4.X means more revenue for DAZ, it kind of illuminates these folks cognitive skills doesn't it.

I held off buying V 4.1until she went on sale and DAZ made it clear that an update was near (so I held off buying your remap). If I could somehow transfer the remap to V 4.2 (or get it done for me), I would buy the package.

V4.1 and V4.2 use the same OBJ file, so the latest upgrade has no effect on the remapping.

estherau ( ) posted Fri, 15 February 2008 at 9:17 PM

The remap works the same as for V4.1 there is a readme with instructions and they are identical, and the readme comes with the dphoadley remap product. The above information is helpful when using that readme for making your mat poses work instead of having to load the mil texures manually. When you buy the product, if you are having trouble, I will talk you through it. Love esther

**dphaodley@lkendal
**Since I'm offline during the length of the Jewish Sabbath, I just now saw your post.
At the time when I did my remap of V4.1, a lot of people here and at the DAZ forum complained that I was trying to undermine Daz, undermine Vicky, and replace her with my remap of Posette.  Also, for all my remap work, I've never used any of the Daz figures extensively, and so have never gotten use to using any of the MAT poses.  Since my figures of choice have always been Posette or Eve, and Dork, and any of myremapped versions of these figures, any and all texturing I've done has always been done manually in the Materials room.
So, when it came to remapping any of them, aside from all the accusations of my 'stealing' form DAZ, MAT posability wasn't ever paticular priority of mine.  Personally, I also prefer to apply my textures by hand, even though it can be a bit tedious at times, because I prefer to have the control of the personal touch, and I believe that my renders have gradually improved because of that.

dphoadley do you really think it was " a lot of people here and at the DAZ forum"? I frequent the forums and I didnt notice this at all and I certainly would have noticed if it had been "a lot". All the posts I noticed had excited happy people who couldn't wait for you to finish your remap. And obviously if you had done something bad that daz wasn't happy with then daz would have nipped it in the bud. It's not any different from people making characters out of a daz product and then selling them, or buying and using Universal Texture Converter. Well maybe people bombarded you with mean IMs or something or there was a big nasty thread that I somehow missed. Anyway your fantastic product is in our MP now and out, so lets not talk about negative things anymore. I am happy I have got your remap to work with mats and material room poses. This is even more useful now that V4 is a him and a her as I can use my lovely M3 and D3 textures. Love esther

Dphoadley, do I need to do anything with the remapped V4.1 you so generously let me have at hanukah? :)
I'm still using 4.1, but when I do install 4.2.... forwarned is forearmed... err... toes. Errmm... uh. upperarmed... no....

Anyway!

Should I do what you did above to keep using her? :)

(Passover soon for you, right?)

estherau ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2008 at 5:35 PM

Hi, yes I can answer that. You have to make a new remap object for V4.2, just follow the readme you have for your previous V4 exactly as it says, and then in UV mapper, use the above instructions to finish it off. This is because the V4 object file (although having the same name as previously) has been changed by daz not that she is V4.2 Love esther

...any idea how I could make "dphoadley v4_V3 remap"  work with V4.0 ?
Would be greatful for help.

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2008 at 6:24 AM

I won't even ask why you are still using V4.0 It should be the same. Just follow the instructions in the readme but instead of importing the V4.1 object into UV mapper just import the V4.0 object. Love esther

Sorry that doesn´t work...It want´s V4.1 only!
Glad you don´t ask why I´m still using V4.0, because that would be a long and neverending
technical story :(

So leave it people!
Instead...how could I make this work with V4.0?

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2008 at 6:51 AM

Hmm, try renaming your V4 object and see if it will accept it. Love esther

 Hi, I followed the steps in UVmapper on a mac to make the mat poses work.

Everything works except for the head. Any input?

Thanks,

Jean-Luc

HAWK999:

You have applied the body map to the head. There should be a head map with this texture set that you can apply to the head and face.

yep - i think there is a tiny mistake on the above list at the brginning of this thread. do it again in UV mapper but just assign the part that says skin face to SkinHead love esther

 I'll try again but I've been careful in assigning the proper materials.

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2008 at 10:51 PM

I can't remember if there was SkinFAce and 2-SkinFace but on my UV mapper skinface was at the bottom of the list and I reassigned that one. I also did the reassigning one at a time. Love esther PS good luck

 Thanks Esther,

I found the problem. When I choose a material and reassign it, I have to "select none"
afterwards to clear everything. Otherwise the previous mat seem to remain selected along with the new one. That is for the UVWapper classic on the mac.

Got it working now!

Thanks again

Jean-Luc

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2008 at 11:26 PM

yep - i should have guessed/ i also did mine on mac with same uvmapper proggie What I did next was to buy total eyez - it's a conforming figure that puts eyes that take v3 textures into V4 so now they are really almost twins love esther

...noop, renaming the V4obj. file didn´t work, as I assumed.

V4.1 or V4.2 just can´t get installed properly on my computer, I believe there´s a conflict
with DAZ "new" installer and something in my machine (PC, Intel, XP SE).

Yes...I have tried to install her exactly where she should be installed!
"c:Program/E frontier/Poser 7"

...well she gets installed...but not properly, the scripts just don´t wan´t to run.
Although the char, pose and obj files gets in their right places.

( I am now in a state of heavy correspondence with DAZ support to solve this problem!)

So I can merge that obj file with dphoadleys obj file in UV mapper.
But...if I try to texture her in the material room, it doesn´t show on her and certainly
not when I render!

If I open the remapped V4.1 object in UV mapper and goes to "Select/select by",
the "material" is grayed out!
So I assume that the new V4obj file is incomplete if the scripts don´t run.
Any suggestions?

estherau ( ) posted Sat, 08 March 2008 at 4:26 PM

Hi rofocale, have you got another computer like a laptop. I would redownload all the bits in case it is a corrupt download or something. Besides there is some new Aiko 4 stuff with toon textures anyway in your account page I think. You could just install V4.2 into another computer like your laptop, then you could merge that runtime or keep it as an external runtime back on your main computer, then you could just move the idaz folder which is in your library folder, to the library folder in your poser 7. I use V4.2 in her own external runtime perfectly happily. (I'm on a mac, but that should work for a PC user too I would think). Love esther

Well I have DL the stuff twice so I don´t think they are corrupt.

So I don´t need to have Poser installed on the laptop in order to execute the files?

If not, you have made my day and perhaps I can start focus on other
things :-))

yes i don't think u will need poser. if i'm wrong, maybe u have an old version of poser like p4 that you could install or maybe it would just look for the poser.exe that you could copy across if you needed. let us know. love esther

 On a Mac, but read in the early days of V4.2 release people were putting a text file named poser.exe in a dummy runtime and getting installs to work. Not sure if it does, just reporting what I read to try to help. Good luck.

Nice morph work, Rofocale.

Strange that an Anime/Toon morph makes V4 actually look more realistic to me.

Speaking of toons, I made this using David's remapped V4, the A4 body morphs and the V3UV GIRL head.
