Don't have Bryce or Vue? Now you can create landscapes right within Poser. Morph Mountain contains all the models and tools you will need to start creating your own hills, mountains, icebergs, oceans, lakes, dunes and more! Use the preset morphs as they are or mix and match to create hundereds of new looks! This item should be in the store within the next day. Enjoy, GeorgeD

Cool idea!

Staale ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 7:39 AM

I've been testing something similar, a morphable scene, and found out that if you make it (the Scene/Landscape) slightly transparent you could still separate the model from the BG using the Tiff Alpha channel, which makes it a lot easier to edit the image in a 2D art package. Unfortunately overlapping transparent model parts 'whites out' the gray in the Alfa making it as white as a solid model.

This will also work with a Mac?

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 9:37 AM

Yes it will but you might need the Mac conversion utility available at Soft Rabbits site. GeorgeD

Aureeanna ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 11:11 AM

and how much will this cost???

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 11:20 AM

The price is $14.95. GeorgeD

Aureeanna ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 12:31 PM

That's a great price.....did you make the sky in those pictures with it, or is that an imported background?

sparrowheart ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 12:41 PM

George, I would thank you, but I just passed out from sheer joy.

sparrowheart ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 12:43 PM

And I use Bryce, by the way...but it is very time-consuming and sometimes you just need a little bit of ground in a Poser render so you do not have to cut the scene off at the model's waist or knees. Many, many thanks for a superlative idea.

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 12:44 PM

Those are imported backgrounds made with Bryce and Photoshop. I included 5 background skies in the set as a starting point for everyone. If this turns out to be something everyone likes I will (and have plans) for a lot of addons and expansions for it. GeorgeD

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 12:51 PM

Another note. I threw in the clouds model/materials for free because they are in a "beta" stage right now. It seems that the clouds at this time show up inverted in texture depending on how the lights are setup in Poser so it may take some playing with to get them to work correctly. Once I work out all the quirks on it I'll post the clouds in the Free Stuff for everyone. Also if there is anything anyone wants to see in future updates let me know. (( I know it's not in the store yet but I figured I would ask now while it was on my mind:) GeorgeD

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 4:50 PM

I need to see more impressive mountains then those..... But that not bad for a start.

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 5:08 PM

Hey SixPack long time no see. Tired of your other names I see. What's this number 426 now? You should come and hang at the Propsguild IRC sometime soon. I have something I forgot to give you last time you were there. Cya around, GeorgeD

mocap ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 6:27 PM

You used bryce backgrounds so you have bryce already whats the point?? of this why offer this as an opton for non bryce owners and use bryce to enhance the appearance your product?? Mocap

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 7:52 PM

Those images were rendered in Poser with no post work at all. I used Bryce and Photoshop made skies simply to show the terrains in an actual scene style enviroment without cluttering it with stuff that has nothing to do with the product. I also included some of the backgrounds shown in the product images for anyone who wishes to use them. I will also be posting more in the Free Stuff once the product is posted in the store. The point of this? Well that's easy...people who only own Poser might have a use for something like this. Heck even a few who own Bryce have shown interest in it. I feel this is a very unique product...maybe even one of a kind. If you like it great if you don't I'm sorry. Let me know what you would like to see and I'll do it up for you. But please don't judge something till you have either used it or seen the results for other users. It's only fair to everyone. Thanks, GeorgeD

AprilYSH ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 8:38 PM

this is a way cool idea GeorgeD! my suggestion is to put in 2d fog/cloud/haze textures and transmaps for people to apply to the 2d poser prop, they can place that along the horizon to create fog/cloud/haze the only trouble is apparently poser rendering will only allow 100% or 0% shadows, no partial shadows... it would be weird to have a semi transparent fog casting 100% shadow. it's all to do with placement i guess... another suggestion is to throw in light sets for this. lots of poser users are "studio" based, not outdoors. by the way Mesh Magick, the lighting and presence of fog/cloud/haze, along with the tex/bump on the mountain will make it "impressive" - no matter the actual size. :) lesse some poser renders of this folks!!! :) you got some George?

Those are all Poser renders in the sample...just small that's all:) G-

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 8:51 PM

AprilYSH...almost forgot...there is a Cloud mesh included with 3 textures. I'm just trying to work out the quirks with it that's why i included it for free. Once it works to my liking I'll post it in the Free Stuff for everyone:) GeorgeD

AprilYSH ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 8:51 PM

oh, of course! hehe... those are great textures... i can't even get them to look half as real in Bryce itself! that's another advantage of poserizing a terrain i guess, you cut out all the bryce variables and make it easy for folks like me who don't know the right settings!!! hmm, now i'm just getting jealous... i better take a walk. ;)

GeorgeD ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 8:59 PM

That's not a Bryce terrain...I modeled/morphed a mesh from scratch in Rhino to get all those styles of terrain. An actual Bryce terrain would be to huge in file size to use with ease in Poser. GeorgeD

As requested here's a quick image completly done in Poser with NO post work other than the white border and adding my name. Everything in the scene minus the TRex comes with the Morph Mountain kit. Enjoy, GeorgeD

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 10:50 PM

Looks pretty cool George. Even for Bryce users like myself.

Neal ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 11:05 PM

I think its an excellent idea. I'm really surprised that no one has done this before. Its great for people who only render in Poser. I don't understand what some of the bitching is about... Great work! Neal

nitreug ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 12:07 AM

I have Bryce but never had time to play much with it. Is your product will also explain how to bring more sky, terrainf and so on from Bryce or is the morph are for specific items?

KenS ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 12:34 AM

very cool idea George!!

AprilYSH ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 12:36 AM

great terrain material, great ground fog! wow! (if this was a gallery pic, i'd nit about the lighting -- but as a product render, it's an excellent illustration!) congrats and goodluck on the sales!!!

nitreug - This Product has nothing to do with Bryce. Only the background images/skies were done with Bryce and Photoshop. This is a Poser only product. GeorgeD

GeorgeD ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 1:00 AM

AprilYSH - This only took me about 5 minutes to do..including adding my name:O) GeorgeD

Hairybiker ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 7:01 AM

Who's the yappy buggers up there, eh? This looks excellent and I'll be having a copy as soon as it's released, despite being a Bryce user myself. This looks grand, GeorgeD! :o) Cheers!

Goldfire ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 8:28 PM

Oh rapture! Bryce has been driving me buggy, and it will NOT export terrains like it says it will. Can't wait to buy your plug-in.....hope it's in the store before I leave on vacation Sat. Hmmmn, renting that laptop is looking tempting again....even at a userous $150-$200 a week.

GeorgeD ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2001 at 11:37 PM

It's now in the store! :) Thanks everyone for your interest and comments. there will definatly be more for this one in the near future:) Enjoy, GeorgeD GeorgeD's Store

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2001 at 12:34 AM

George, What about a couple of other terrain types: gritty lunar craters, fiery lava flow, cravassed glacier... maybe even stalactites? Having this within Poser will be very convenient for quick pictures. Thanks for exploring the possibilities and expanding the usefulness of Poser itself, Carolly

GeorgeD ( ) posted Fri, 15 June 2001 at 12:52 AM

Actually the one of the first addons for Morph Mountain will be SciFi Landscapes:)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sun, 17 June 2001 at 3:38 AM

Goody! Whether it is astronauts playing golf on the moon or dragons bathing in lakes of fire, it would be nice to get the shadows right. Thank you, Carolly
