Subject: DS keeps crashing

This is my first post here.
Hey, Hello Everyone.
I have Carrara 5 pro, Hexagon 2, poser 5, Bryce 6 and D Studio.
Just starting to learn most of the prev. mentioned apps. 
I used Blender , wings and Bryce before now.

So anyway I want to start using these programs together, but DS keeps crashing on me after I load a figure. anyone else ever had this problem?
I have posted this ? over at Daz and sent a message to tech support but thought maybe someone here may be able to help.

Are you running more programs at the same time? Looks like you don't have enough RAM to me, but I could be wrong..I'm sure someone who understands the data better can help you more.

Update your cg driver and try again, without running 5 other progs at the same time! ^_^

hi

I have the same problem. Presently on Daz3d 2.0 . Unknown error during figure  loading.
2GB RAM (1.3Gb available), Coreduo 6600/2.4GHz. WinXP SP2. other apps running IE7, P3DO

Happens on V4, M2, V3, & even Poser 4 lo rez figures. 
Had this problem since installing Daz3D ver 1.8- though honestly I don't use Daz3D much.

waits until figure is 99% loaded- then crashes & the program disappears.

Since I have Cararra Pro & Poser 7- Not seeing a need to waste my time fighting Daz3D.

Any advice?

Mine started doing the same thing now after I installed 2.0...I am trying to find out if anyone knows if it is the video card that needs upgrading..lots of ppl have said it fixed other problems they were having when they updated the drivers.
I went back to 1.8 and it works fine..

D|S 2.0 tends to need OpenGL 1.5 (In Help menui, About Your Video card, first entry is OpenGL level). You may need to update your video card drivers.

Also, Preferences->Interface. Try any or all of:

Turn off Display Optimization
Turn Off Hardware antialiasing
Pull OpenGL Texrure slider fully over to the left.

Hi,

FYI I fixed the crashing by replacing the video card.

Specifically
changing from the built in (on the mobo) video to a
Quadro FX 3000 with the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Ive had problems in the past of saved figures causing crashes before they load or after they load and I attempt to use them this is as far as I can figure a program error......If none of my actors even loaded Id probably try reloading the program first before I went to the expense of more hardware or an upgrade.......Good luck

Daz has said that your graphix card must have at least 1.4 openGL.  Everyone else says you need 1.5 openGL.  I talked to them on the phone..and they have it in their FAQ on their site..
