Subject: Three new tutorials (not all Vue) :)

Submitted them, but they are on my site at moment for you to enjoy :)

#24 Weathering in 3D apps. general tips on making weathered textures in 2D for 3D objects, and tips on how to make materials in 3D apps look weathered

#25Brushes in 2D apps. Lot of folk aren't aware brushes in Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop can be set to behave more randomly, looking more like natural brushes. For beginners. (Heck I only found that out couple of years ago, lol!)

#26 Resources for Digital Art.  Books, magazines, sites and tools I've found helpful in my art

Hope ye find them of use :)

Your resources page is very interesting, especially the books on fantasy art. The books I know from your list are the Osprey series ones. I have several myself, mostly about medieval armies and especially like the ones illustrated by Angus Mc Bride. I am still planning to get more of the "battle" series.

As you are interested in Fantasy art: do you know any good books about Dungeons & dragon art or the work of Jeff Easley and Larry Elmore?

Offrench,
Ta! :)

Lol, yes I am rather a fan of D&D art...didn't you check my site out? ;)

Good D&D art books:

Dragon magazine art

This page has info about several of the offical TSR era art books, but i'm sure there's one missing , or maybe it was a different, UK cover I saw (it was red).

THe Worlds of TSR, that was it!! :) its listed on Amazon and Paizo.com has it for sale as a.pdf

I don't see any books just by Easely, shame, he's awesome but he does sell prints iirc.
Can never rememebr if it was him or Elmore who did one of my top fave D&D pics, the one inside 2nd Ed player's handbook, with young heroes around a dead small dragon tied to a tree...fabulous stuff!!

That, and "Savage Frontiers" by larry elmore (war band in the snowy mountains)

Clyde Caldwells "Strahd" pics,

and Brom's "Begloi Enchanter" are my faves!!

I did go to your website, but only to the pages you posted here. Tutorials and other articles. Had not seen your fantasy art section. Now I know why you purchased all those books :-)

I have been to Paiso and purchased all the books from this page in PDF: http://paizo.com/store/downloads/wizardsOfTheCoast/nonfictionBooks

I will then consider if I get them "for real". I have already found an eBay seller had almost all of them.

I have the second edition of the Player's Handbook under my eyes right now and the illustration showing the heroes having slain the dragon and tied it to a tree is by Elmore. It is also one of my favourite.

Apart from AD&D, I like the illustrations Angus Mc Bride did for MERP and of course his work for the Osprey booklets.

Yeah I do love fantasy art,  just an eensy weensy wee bit ;)

I'll always rememebr one of the Dragonlance pics, with a flying castle..wow, back then that was just SO damned new and unexpected, amazing :)

Tempted to get those pdfs as well. So much beautiful art.

Aye that pic by Elmore sums up D&D to me, and it's very lively and exhuberant, without being over blown or too rich in colour...just perfect.

had to sell/give away lot of my D&D collection, no room for it any more, sigh :(
Doubt anyone here is interested, but anyone who can get to near Glasgow, Scotland, is welcome, free to almost my entire collection of Dragon Magazines, and other (A)D&D stuff.
Got no kids to leave it to, so really DON'T want to have to throw it in the bin :(
(and sorry can't afford to post it to folks, weighs a ton)

Gave my cousin my really good stuff to sell off on EBay: Queen of the Demon Web pits, Against the giants series etc. Did not like having to part with 'em, but oh well.

So just keeping really good and special stuff. Eventually will need ot get rid of 3rd ed library too as I switch over to 4th ed.

Back to D&D artists :)

I didn't like DeTerlizzi, most of his work was so anaemic and ridiculously skinny. Looked like concentration camp victims made of pastels, not dangerous evil beasties ;)

Brom was amazing for Dark Sun, gave it a truly alien feel, which is great.

Such a damned shame that Keith Parkinson died, ugh. he had a fantastic precision, showing arms and armour of with great realism that must have been very hard to do.

Clyde Caldwell does amazing stuff with gems and metal in his work.

Also liked lot of the B&W sketches in the old manuals, the Fiend Folio had some great ones, like the drow and the huge full page of the man fighting a lizard king.

Ravenloft and Spelljammer had some great art for them.

Ack! I just read Angus McBride died last year, nuts!! :(
David Gemmell...Arthurt C Clarke...Robert jordan...Keith Parkinson....all the greats, passing....

sighs, but it's still filled with happy nostalgia, too :)

And Gary Gygax in early March...

All the greats, indeed.

Too bad I am not near Glasgow (I live in France). I would gladly have paid a visit to your collection. Years ago, I lent a few of my books including an early edition of the Monsters Manual (the one with the funny cover), MM2, the Fiend Folio, Legends & Lore... never to see them back. I am now considering to purchase them again, even though I have not played for years.
Happy nostalgia as you said...

Doh, forgot Gygax...omg what a pity would have loved to have met the man :(

No worries :) Used to be truly superb collection, still very nice.
Yeah I'm keeping the main books of each edition, you can "prise my copy of the 1st Ed Dungeon Masters Guide out of my cold dead hand!!" :p

You should be able ot pick 'em up on EBay etc. The artwork, as said, is very nostalgic :)
