Subject: Poser 5.0 & Quicktime 7 Problem ...

miken999 ( ) posted Fri, 04 April 2008 at 5:32 AM · edited Sat, 28 December 2024 at 1:21 PM

Anyone has an idea how to work on Poser 5.0 & having Quicktime 7.0 / 7.4 installed ???

When Quicktime 7 is installed, browsing my folders in Poser 5.0 is a real pain,
it takes more than 1 minute to have access to files in folders ... without Quicktime it takes 2 seconds !

Maybe someone has a tip to fix that ...

Strangely, Quicktime 7 has no impact on Poser 7.0 ... but I use mainly Poser 5.0.

I removed all trace of Quicktime when I worked out that it was responsible for crashing Bryce when I tried to install that app. . if I need to watch a .Mov file I use realplayer.

Quicktime conflicts with Poser 5. The only solution I know of is to uninstall Quicktime.

Hi Miken999!

I always save useful ideas when I browse forums, i searched my computer and found this:

quote:
If you really must have QT installed on you "puter" (as a friend of mine needed it for Illustrator),there is another workaround....
Delete the "Mac" plugin found in your Runtime>ImageIOPlugins folder.
This goes back to the legacy coding as the original Poser was ported to Mac's and used QT for display.
You don't need it...but you will see a big different in your library display.
End quote

I dont have Poser 5 installed myself so I cant tell if it works or if its safe to do this, maybe someone else remembers this trick?

Regards / Jonny
