Subject: Ok it might be me...

Has RDNA pulled a lot of the male stuff they used to have?
I went over because I could have sworn there was a sort of 18th Century thingy there (Refined Tastes? Not sure if that's what it was called.) and some Western Stuff....
Now?
Hardly anything there anymore.
I don't find the armor I bought there in their list anymore either. (the V3 version and the Freak version have disappeared too)

What the hell?
Seriously, are they ditching older stuff and going totally Koshini / Jessi / James etc figures now?

Hah... I dug around a bit...
Apparently Darrell Glidden (Visual Silence) who created a lot of the M3 stuff (like the Fantasy Armor) is no longer at RDNA. There is a very short and (to me) snappy sounding reply to someone by Syyd saying that he is an employee of Smith Micro.
(I can't find hide nor hair of the products on CP btw)
I'm guessing that wasn't an amicable parting...

Sydd's been there a while. I know I've seen some of his (her?) freebies...
Regardless, there is a dearth of stuff for puir Mike...;)

You can try sending him an email through RDNA. He's still a member there.

Maveris is also no longer on the RDNA team. I was looking for some of his freebies for someone but couldn't find them. Traveler said that they don't host items for people not on the team, so some of the freebies will be vanishing too.

Yep, looks kinda bare over there. The David version of Refined Tastes, Country Coutier is M.I.A. as well.

What is peculiar, is that the only dglidden clothing set still available is the Super Freaks Clothing set for Apollo Maximus.

Probably just an oversight.

This has been a tumultuous year so far in 3Dland, especially at the stores. More disturbing than exciting.

And what really sucks, if losing items for the males. Sure, they might have been around for a while (and I'm glad I bought them when I did), but we won't know for a while if they'll show up elsewhere. The Men can't afford to lose products, since they have so few compared to the vixens.... er, I mean females.

Hopefully the tides will turn for the better in the near future.

Maveris seems to have a lot of her (his?) Freebies on his site at www.digitalmeanderings.com

But I didn't know about that one either... what's going on over there?

Silke, Darrell's a guy. If you want one of his items I can give him a call or an email to see if he could work something out with you.

Silke ( ) posted Sat, 05 April 2008 at 5:27 PM

LOL the "his / her" thing referred to Maveris :)
I kinda guessed Darrell is a guy! :P

I was browsing, and I don't remember what all he had over at RDNA, but it would be nice to know if the products he did have there are going to be sold elsewhere. :)

Oh ok, lol.

Well, we're both really busy with work at the moment, so I don't think it's even crossed his mind yet. I'll be sure to send him a line and ask.  He's one of the hardest working men at the company right now, so it may take awhile for the stuff to get up again. I'll know for sure today or Monday when we do our daily conference call.  :)

Silke ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2008 at 7:04 AM

It would be damn shame if they we're available anymore, for sure.
His armor for M3 is one piece I've used over and over since I've had it. :)

Well, I dunno about Jessi and James, but LadyLittleFox, who created the K line, is probably one of their biggest merchants right now, so they would want to make sure she stays. DAZ's loss, their gain, as it were. But even then: the focus for her these days is divided between Aiko, Vickie, and the Plushies. I almost wish she'd do some more Gumdrop work.

But face it: none of the stores have things for the guys these days. Not here, not RDNA, not DAZ. Thank God for Wardrobe Wizard, or my work with Ichiro would be really hooped. :)

I've been saying for years now that I needed to start learning how to model so I could build my own clothes, and I've just about got it figured out. I'm currently trying to master JPs, which is a whole skillset all its very own. But bottom line: I'm gonna try and do what I can to fill the void. It may not be much, but hopefully it'll be something.

And FWIW, not as a merchant. I dont need to go down that road. If you find my stuff useful, it's yours. That simple. Just let me figure out the JP stuff, and I'll have some things online.

Sean, I'm thinking the same thing. I have Hexagon, but it's daunting and I'm not a patient person lol.

I plan on makin all sorts of things, from clothes to armor to textures....someday. I want to make a couple of kids too to go with the male and female I'm putting together.  As for male items I plan on making as much as for the female, don't care if they sell or not. Just put them in the freebies here and sell them in Second Life.  Have you all ever seen the lost painting by Leonardo da vinci, called the battle of Anghiari? there's a sketch of it by rubens that survives. Anyway I wanted to do the whole scene, make all the people, textures, armor, horses and weapons.  Here's a pic

Hah, your male figure is what inspired me to want to learn making stuff. Because he looks already so great, I figure if he gets a lot of support, you could give Daz a run for it. :)

You want to make all that? Oh wow. Talk about ambition!
And if you make a new horse... oh my. I am so with you. When Daz did the Milhorse, they listened precisely to NONE of the feedback from people who know horses. The legs bow. The knee (I'll use laymans terms lol) is too high. The back is wrong, the neck and head are joined where they ought not be. Etc. Etc.
I usually work around it, but damn... there's a ton wrong with the MilCripple. If it were real, it would be shot because it wouldn't be able to walk lol.

There is a site specifically for the male figures. I found it off of poseraddicts.com

SeanMartin ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2008 at 12:04 PM

Yeah, it's called digitalmales.com (I think -- dont hold me to that one, okay?). Just getting started, so it's still a little rough around the edges.

And dont forget Azdan's site for clothing for Hiro (and sometimes David): very fantasy oriented, for the most part, but all of them well modelled pieces of work. He just took down 10 truly amazing outfits for H3, and they wont be coming back. But it's always good to bookmark his site so you stay on top of the current offer (which right now is a Roman armour kind of thing).

There's one called male poserotica too, it's a gay site, alot of porn in the galleries, but they have alot of male oriented stuff.  They all like my male model there. offered me a whole forum thing dedicated to the development of the model but I haven't started it yet. A good place to advertise cause I can post pics there of him I couldn't show here. Same with renderotica for the fem.

I'm not sure they have too many clothes though.

Digitalmales has next to no clothes there either.
Or not any useful ones. I don't need an outfit with half a leg missing (never understood the point of that one) and I'm not into pirates... so that leaves... uh... yeah. Nothing much over there.

Hi, I just wanted to pop in and respond to this. Yes most of my store has been removed from RDNA and as Teyon has pointed out my job is keeping me really, really busy. So I'm not sure when or if I will get those products re-released, there is a lot involved with re-releasing product. But I do want to thank everyone that has supported me through the years with purchasing those products.

Darrell

Silke ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2008 at 2:11 PM

Thanks for the response, Darrell. :)

Seriously though, it would be a shame if they never saw the light of day again. I just wish RDNA had actually mentioned this and those of us who had a few on our wishlists could have snapped up what we wanted to get.
(Or maybe I missed it, in which case, mybad.)

You were one of the few who made really good male stuff, so it's a shame those are gone. (For now at least.)

Diogenes ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2008 at 2:24 PM

Well good news then, they will be rereleased.
