Subject: Daz studio 2 can't find files anymore...

peevee ( ) posted Wed, 09 April 2008 at 3:33 PM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 2:48 PM

Hi,

I had to reïnstall DAZ studio 2 recently ( aswell as Poser ( 7 ) due to a problem with windows. I reïnstalled poser and unzipped my content back into the runtime file. ( yes every file is in the right subdirectory :)  ) After that I reïnstalled DAZ studio. I selected my poser library as A possible content file. Every time I try to load a scene that I saved prior to my system reset, Daz Studio can't find certain texture files no more ( before I reïnstalled the whole bunch it worked just fine ) I have to select them by hand every single time...

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks everyone,

Kind regards,

Peevee

Maybe you should have installed both programs before you reinstalled the content?

just a thought..I actually have no idea but if it worked before..it should work again.  You need to think about what has changed since the last time it worked?

Thanks for the reply. I did reïnstal both applications before installing the content. Poser works just fine, but DAZ Studio doesn't find the poser content anymore. Even in the library pallette from the studio. I can browse through every folder, but the lower left pallette ( in wich the content should appear ) stays empty all the time...

I also had this issue too, kept looking for files in my main Poser 7 runtime even though the files were in an external runtime. I rarely use D|S but wanted to test some clothing I am working on in it. Going to search over at Daz's forum for some help.

I suspect you have either selected the Poser 7 (or the external content folder) as a DAZ|Studio content folder (does the icon in the Content plaette have a stylised S or is it plain?) or you have selected the wrong level - you want the folder that holds the Runtime folder to be selected as a Poser content directory.

I will try that last remark, that sounds like a possible explanation. I'll let you know how it turns out...

Thanks again everybody,

Hi,

you can reset the location for your poser files in the registry.

run regedit en navigate to
 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
          Software
                  Daz
                      STUDIO
locate , PoserDir in the rightside colom
and point it to your poser file locations.  (just right click on PoserDir and choose 'change'.
In the upcoming window  fill in the proper location of your poser files.)

That will do it.

Hi and thanks a lot!

It worked!!! Daz studio is running fine again.
