Excellent model and texturing =) The vortex is really impressive, too . A lot of skills in there ! All those space stuff these days makes me wanna play another game of Colony Wars ... All you cringy aliens, feel the heat of my lasers !!! Welcome to the forum . I'm glad you've find this place helpful and inspiring, and i hope you'll find the time to enter the contest wich ends at the end of the month . More information on the banner . And no, you're not the only RDS user in the universe ... There's a few dinosaurs that hang around here too ! ;) litst PS: Rezman, i'd suggest not to show an image if you don't have the permission . A link is enough . Copyright laws, you know .
Your ship is incredible! Excellent model; like Brent said, the elements look like they DO something.... I don't have any particular recommendations for 3D lighting tutorials, but honestly any good photography or cinematography text will give you the basics. It's just a matter of translating reality into RDS space.... And like everyone said, welcome! Even though lots of folks here have moved on to Carrara, the programs are still similar enough to get great advice and ideas. Plus, there are several of us RDS dinosaurs here.... (Grrr, litst.)
I'd like to thank you all for your positive comments on the Windigo. A couple of you mentioned that all of parts look like they "do something", and that is correct. This model has its origins in a sci-fi story written by a good friend of mine in which the ship is described in detail. I got a good mental snapshot of the vessel and was able to reproduce it in RDS. To Pleiades specifically, I like the image you posted. Where did that great marble shader come from? And you mentioned that you're using Corel 10 - have you used versions five through eight? They came with a program called CorelDream which was my introduction to raytracing. It was a super-stripped down verions of RayDream 3D, but it was a great program to get started in. Thanks again to all, Julian
