Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 13 7:03 am)
I just looked this up (and can't find it now) but someone mentioned this:
Open up the Poser 7.ini file in notepad.
It can be found under documents and settings/(your profile name)/application data/Poser 7
Find teh line
PREVIEW_OGL_OBJECT_BBOXPICKING 0
and change the 0 on the end to a 1.
It may help, but I'm slowly getting teh feeling that the fault has to do with the ATI card and drivers themselves.
I have a Nvidia card and poser is the only app I have with this issue. I have no problems in Vue.
I recently upgraded to vista64 ultimate and because my Saphire xl1550 (ATI) card didn't worked well with it I replaced it with an asus EN8800GT (nvidia) card. The first week I had nothing but trouble with all my graphic programs: rhino, hexagon, poser, uvmapper even vue6 refused to run in the opengl hardware mode, I loaded the latest drivers but nothing worked until I uninstalled all the drivers and utilities like gameOSD and smartdoctor and did a fresh install with the original drivers and no utilities (I didn't buy it for games!) Before that I also used a program called driver cleaner which was mentioned in another thread, to remove all the old ATI drivers and registrykeys.
After that everything worked like a charm.
You can find driver cleaner here:
But I can't garantee anything and you get a warning to be careful with program.
good luck.
Bopper.

I am surprised that I'd have so much driver trouble given I have only had Nividia based cards installed on this machine. I could understand having trouble if I had ATI drivers once installed but I never have.
I hear mixed things about using a driver cleaner but they have been from those that may have not followed the directions I don't know I am always chicken when using utilities that screws with drivers. Since I also have a Nvidia chipset on my motherboard and I am afraid that this driver cleaner will remove those too. Can you isolate the display drivers from the motherboard drivers with this Driver Cleaner?
Thanks!

I'm afraid I can tell you very much about this program, I just used it because I suspected there were some ATI-drivers left, you can specify the drivers in a searchlist, but if you didn't had any other cards installed before you nvidia card I don't recommend to use it. As you said: this program can screw up things. For me it was a last try to get rid of my problems, but I suspect that reinstalling the original drivers actually solved the problems.
Bopper.
