Hello,

Does anyone know of any tutorials or suggest how to create turbulence for an aircraft in vue?

many thanks

turblulance? Do you mean the heat haze behind the aircraft? Do you mean the diplacement of air around the wing ? Are you animating and want the plane to shake?

Hi,

Yep, i mean the displacement of air. Not animating, just a still image.

thanks

I think the easiest way to do that would be in (insert paint program here) with a bit of smudge and or blurr...In Vue you would have to have an object the right shape and then a nice material simulating something like heat haze..which there was a discussion recently in the forum about.

I agree with Paul.....I would do that in post rather than struggle trying to achieve it in 3d. Most paint programs have ample distortion tools to take care of that. Photoshop's Liquify brush may be of service.....

Many thanks,

I'll try the Liquify brush - first have to learn a little how to use it!!!

many thanks again.

It's just easier and more flexible to do in post. The way I did the above image's air turbulance is copy the shot onto a new layer, use (if I remember right) Water Ripple filter, then turn that layer into an Overlay mode, adjusted the opacity, and masked (or you can just erase) everything but right below the ships.

Hope this helps-
