Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
Sydney G2 (no clothes) - no problem with scaling her body.
Kate Casual - body scales correctly. Her conforming clothing (which loads already conformed to her) goes crazy.
Let me know if you want me to try anything else.. love your tutorials, and glad to help if I can!

JessiCasual is another matter! She doesn't seem to scale at all. Just gets pigeon toed and moved upwards above the floor a bit when the scale dial is turned to the right. When the scale dial is turned to the left, she sits.
Here are images.

could it be an IK problem?
does it happen with IK turned off?

Oh... those were with IK on. I just took IK off and all that happens is that she moves up and down in the scene... she doesn't scale at all. In fact you can't turn the scale to a minus value at all. It only goes from zero upward. At 400% she looks the same...just a bit higher up in the scene.

Jumpin' Jeshophat!
Instead of scaling the figure, the body scale dial adjusts
the body Ytran very slowly. When IK is on, the ghost shoes
go below the ground.
Looking in the CR2, I don't see any ERC on the body or hip
at all, so this is not obviously an ERC problem......

The only possibly related ERC is on both feet: a scale change
responding to the respective shin.
scale scale
{
name scale
.....
interpStyleLocked 0
valueOpDeltaAdd
Figure 7
lShin:1
scale
deltaAddDelta 0.010000
}
Oddly, these ERCs have Figure 7, while the other ERCs (coupling
the eyes together, and coupling finger joints) have Figure 11.

Poser uses two types of scale channel 'scale' and 'propagatingScale'. The BODY actor of a figure needs to use 'propagatingScale', so that when scaling the BODY (which is an invisible actor), the scaling effect will propogate to the children and sub-children.
Jessi also has problems. Some of the actors in her legs use 'propagatingScale', which they should not. It's even worse than that, the legs are not even consistant between right and left as to which actors use 'propagatingScale'!
@ mathman,
No need to turn of IK or zero the figure.
To fix Jessi (not JessiCasual), first make a backup copy of the file, then you need an uncompressed version (cr2 not crz). Open 'Jessi.cr2' in a text editor, Search (or "Find" in some text editors) for the second instance of the string "actor hip:1". From this point on (not before), use your text editor's Search & Replace function to replace every instance of the string "propagatingScale" (note the upper case "S") with "scale". Note that you are also replacing "propagatingScaleX" with "scaleX" etc.
The fix for JessiHiRes is the same as for Jessi.
For JessiCasual, you first need to replace every instance of "scale" in the BODY actor with "propagatingScale", there are four instances to replace "scale", "scaleX", "scaleY", and "scaleZ", so "scaleX" gets replaced with "propagatingScaleX" etc. After you have done that, proceed as above for Jessi.
Note that I'm talking about the problems that I found in my versions of Jessi, I don't know if she was fixed in P7.
Perhaps there was some service release that I have not got installed at the moment. I had a HDD die recently and am running an unpatched version of P6.
Here is an example of the sort of problems I can get with Jessi. In the above image the original Jessi is on left, the fixed Jessi on right. Both figures have both thighs yScaled to 110%. In the original Jessi the scaling of the left thigh propagates to the shin and foot, but the scaling of the right thigh does not propagate.
Yeah I tested the Jessi's in my Poser main runtime as well as the external one where I moved all my Poser 6 content which is where I also save all my changes to the originals like adding the Ultimate Body morphs and resaving the figures. I'm running SP3 for Poser 6 so it probably was fixed in an update. That's the only way it could have changed her in my default runtime as I never save edited or changed figures back into that runtime.

I have a mystery ... (or not ?) ........ Can you help out the ol' Doc? ....... Thanks. ...
I would like to find out if ...
... I have a corrupt file or what ... ???
Here's a brief experiment to try.
In Poser 6 (or Poser 7 if you have it) ... Try doing this.
??? - What happens to the figure?
Try doing the same thing with "Jessie" and "JessieHiRes", also ... what happens?
