Subject: Poser Pro exporting to Maya question

Hello

After much work I have finally found out that Poser Pro only exports to Maya 8.5 which is very odd since it exports to the most recent versions of 3DS Max and Cinema 4D.

Since Maya 2008 has been out for a while and Maya 2009 will probably be here soon does anybody know when Poser Pro will catch up and at least give us the ability to export to Maya 2008?

Thank you.

like cr2 hacking, can't you just open the *.ma file and replace the version number? I know that Maya 2008 lets you generate files that earlier versions of Maya can read, so it's like the same thing backwards, no?

That might work.

Anyway, if you import a poser scene which has a walk animation, would it be possible to export the BVH through Maya?

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!

Thank you both.  Could you be a little more specific as I am trying to import a pz3 scene and am unclear how to accomplish what you suggest.  Again thank you.

In other words when you create it in Maya can you export a bvh from Maya and the answer is no. You can export a bvh from MotionBuilder. Yup already checked on the Maya thing...although I could probably take it into MB and export it from there. Haven't played with it yet. I think the Maya export is .ma but not sure.
