OBZ objects are GZip compressed versions of the corresponding OBJ files. There's a Python script that comes with Poser (it's under Scripts->Utilities) called unCompressFiles, you can use that script to uncompress all the .OBZ, .CRZ, .PPZ etc. files to the original uncompressed text formats.
If yoru library is large, you want to make sure you've got enough disk space! .OBJ files and Poser files compress really well since they are text files, so the uncompressed versions can easily take 10 times as much disk space.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
In Poser 7 go to Scripts/Utility/UncompressPoserFiles check the box 'uncompress geometry files', I also checked 'delete uncompressed files after uncompressing' This will make your '.obz' into '.obj''.
I gave up on the Vista <insert__bad language_even worse bad language> ;o)
I now have a nice friendly Mac Pro but am still in the midst of installing all my programmes and have yet to install Poser 6 which is why I am not sweariing that it is the same for 6 but if I recall correctly it is somewhat similar.
That is a really weird issue. I have recently upgraded to Vista Business 64 and installed P7 and PoserPro but the compression did not affect my external runtimes. Only the native P7 and PoserPro stuff that came with the installation was compressed, everything else was the same as before.
Btw, you should notice that P7 and PoserPro run much better and faster on Vista, at least that's my experience.

I have just upgraded to both Vista OS and Poser Pro. I have noted after installing my Poser 6, 7 and Pro programs on Windows Vista system, that my files have changed somewhat. Old files that had "OBJ" object extentions now list as "OBZ" files. And also when saving files with characters combined from multiple runtime directories in Poser Pro...upon trying to reopen the save Pz3 file, Poser Pro is asking for locations to OBJ files that it cannot find...well shock...it's not finding them because they're listing as OBZ files.
Can anyone tell me what the hell happened here and if there's a way to correct this matter. I don't have all day to search around for every single missing and mislabeled object file.
Any help appreciated...thanks.
