A lava lamp modelled in rhino 3d and rendered in carrara. The texturing and lighting was terribly slow, arduous even. It took 2 hrs just to get it looking right. Any thoughts?

Nice image. Just curious what type of processor it took so long to render on. Sounds like a Bryce render time to me. ;) God Bryce is soo slow. Clint

The render didnt take 2 hrs, just playing with settings to get it to look right did. I have an 1 ghz athlon, so im set in terms of render power, it only took 1:02 to render. Thanx anyway guys...and no, bryce is crap, i wouldnt render anything there.

Blobs need to be opaque with a wax like texture. Looks nice otherwise.

I agree -- cool pic, and the lava should be opaque.... I had a lava lamp when they were in vogue the first time, and have one again.... (mine's got more or less clear liquid with kind of pinkish lava.) Man, I miss the '70's.

The lava in my lamp is opaque, also.
