And why would you be even going there? Most members who use sharecg, get stuff from www.sharecg.com   notice no 10 after the www in front of the sharecg.com

Actually www10.sharecg.com is where the forums for ShareCG are located. There's nothing malicious about the website though. Funny this comes as the very first post for the OP. Obviously not someone who's been around long enough to know what they're talking about. Just go to http://www.sharecg.com and click the links there that take you to their forums and you'll see the ww10 show up.

AnnieD ( ) posted Wed, 11 June 2008 at 5:30 PM

I just posted about this in another thread.
When I follow the link..I get stuck on the page and my browser says it cannot find
www.10.sharecg.com    even tho I didn't go to that page....I just went to sharecg.com.
It then freezes my browser window while it keeps looping, saying it can't find the page...and I had to "end its process" to get out of it.
I've never had problems there before but its the 3rd time this week its happened....so maybe someone else got stuck in it too...?

First, the url over there is not www.10.sharecg.com, {notice the extra 'dot'} it is www10.sharecg.com, and LISM is correct, it is the url for the forums.

The website is not a malicious website..it just seems that there is a sweepstakes link or something that is no longer active.

I will contact Jake and inform them of the issue ;)

That was my bad...I automatically put the dot behind www.
I never thought it was a malicious site...I just knew it was hooking me into an endless loop because it kept saying it couldn't find something at www10.sharecg.com.
I'm glad you are trying to take care of it..I imagine we all spend lots of time there...

The downloads at sharecg are now giving me an SQL error, in both SeaMonkey and Internet Explorer.  I think there's something wrong with their server.

No worries Annie, just wanted you to know about the extra dot in case that was giving you any errors...is the site still throwing you into a loop?

Infinity, Im not having any problems downloading anything with Firefox 2.0, is there any certain items over there that are giving you errors?

All items return SQL error for me, including with Firefox.  Has been like this last 18 hours (overnight for me).  Can't figure why.   Could be something between my ISP and theirs.

I checked it again this morning and this is what I'm getting....
Everything starts to load on the page and it keeps going back to  "waiting for http://www10.sharecg.com/page_not_found.php"   then while its waiting and looking u can't use the page...it's like its frozen while its trying to load,  I can see everything on it but can't use it....and have a hard time getting out of it...I can't stop the process of loading it.
Where I see this info is in the bar at the bottom of IE7 where it shows the info of the page and stuff thats loading in it.
I'm sure it will get fixed but it does keep me out for now.

I've checked e'thing on my pc last night...and I run great security so its not my pc.

They're obviously experiencing some growing pains as they continue to work towards renewing their promises of profit sharing. Thet doesn't mean they're malicious. Just means they're having some coding issues.

Well, no word back from SCG yet.

Annie, try clearing your browser cache {CTRL + F5} and temp internet files, then  try this link..does it still do what it was doing to you?

I have my cache set to empty every time I close the browser...and I only keep 14 cookies in my temp int folder when I'm not using the browser...I have a routine when I close my browser I go to my temp int folder and take out all cookies that don't belong..and make sure there are no other files in there that IE7 might have missed when I closed it.
So I just now cleaned out everything and used the link you provided and it crashed my browser this time.  I sat there to let it do what it wanted and waited until it said done and then IE said it wasn't responding and it closed.
I'm not having this problem anywhere else...The only thing I can think of now is that there is something there that my browser doesn't like.
It does the same thing if I follow a link from the free stuff items...I guess I'll just wait it out to see what's going on.  If some people are getting in and I'm not..it almost has to be my browser but since I'm not having probs anywhere else I'm not changing it.

I think one of their new ad's is using some Java. If you don't have the latest Java that could be an issue as well. I had one of those floating Windows that crossed my screen when I was there the other day and, though I'm no expert, I'm pretty sure that was Java or some kind of ActiveX script.

AnnieD ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2008 at 9:29 PM

I just updated my java about a week or so ago...and I have to give permission for active x to run anything.  ..there's a dead link and they haven't fixed it yet and IE just keeps waiting for it and there's some other bad code there they need to correct.  Sooner or later they will find it...
If I follow the link for www10sharecg  it's a notice of a dead link page. I don't get a forum page and it crashes my browser.

I am getting the same problems as Annie so her computer is NOT the culprit, (see attached). This page opening loop is impossible to complete and impossible to stop short of using the task manager. If SCG is indeed having coding probs, it would be nice to have some sort of warning about it before people try to go to their d/l page..

A question arises, if www10.sharecg.com is supposed to be the url for their forums, why are we automatically re-directed THERE instead of  going to the d/l page when we are trying to d/l an item and why is it able to take over and lockup our browser when we try to stop it? I use IE7, btw. but up until a few days ago, this was never a problem.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Fri, 13 June 2008 at 2:33 AM

Im not sure what is going on over there Rstar.. but I have made attempts to get a hold of them privately and via the open forums...I'll keep trying ;)

Well I was able to get in for a short time yesterday as I was moving my files then it suddenly just began looping for no reason when I got to about my 8th file. It's definately some kind of Java loop because I opened task manager and there was a Java applet going in circles with IE 7.

Question. For those using Firefox....do you have Adblock? Im wondering if there are some banners that are throwing peoples browsers off into a tail spin?

I'm using Adblock, and Firefox 2.0 and am seeing nothing loading anywhere after the initial landing.

AnnieD ( ) posted Sat, 14 June 2008 at 1:44 AM

I gave it another shot just now...this time I noticed that it kept loading the sharecg logo and login-account and faq links on the page header..by that I mean that it loaded it 5 times across the top before it scrolled it off the right side of the page..I then went to check  my temp internet files and it had loaded 1176 objects and was still looping and loading when I ended the process...no wonder IE got sick...it was overwhelmed trying to load all those objects over and over...lol
Also...I had another window open at the same time and I checked to see if it was freezing also..but it was working ok during the whole process.

Last night I installed firefox to see what it would do in the same situation.  It did the same looping but it didn't freeze the window...still used lots of memory and put over 700 objects in my temp internet folder before I got out of there.  Then I went to 3DC and followed the link from there..same thing happened.  I'll just wait at this point, until someone fixes it.  If it has anything to do with my security settings or IE 7  I can't change those...I won't change them...but I can say some things for sure...I've been online since 1995...I build webpages...I'm very much aware of the little things that can  cause problem when your just surfing..I know how to go into the source of a webpage and check for probs....I repair and upgrade my own computer...and I know for certain that this problem is not a compromised pc.....no virus here.....just a browser that is very unhappy with a website.  ONE website!
Thanks for all the effort you've put into this..but I think now all that's left is to wait....

I'm using Firefox 2.0 with Adblock and NoScript (blocks Java and ActiveX scripts unless you allow it) and Flashblock (blocks Flash animation unless you allow it), installed on my machine. Just download them from the Mozilla site.

No annoying ads, no annoying Flash animation, no worries about malicious ActiveX scripts and no problems downloading with ShareCG.

As a matter of fact ALL pages load faster because they don't have to load ads, Flash and other crap.

You folks might want to give those widgets a try. Might fix your problems. :)

Well he is new to some of this stuff so that's not so out of the question, however It never used to let me submit my freebies if I didn't have a file in the upload section. ShareCG had this probelm before though so I'm laying the blame on their coding. There were a few people complaining about the missing download links before the rev-sharing went away as well.
