Hey!  Yes, that email did come from us.  Moving up in the world to streamlined processes and stuff!  Just want to pop in and just say again - just our name changed - the good ol' core of people are still here...we just have a big company behind us now.  (I'm going on 8 years in September - Pre-Poser 4.0.3!)  Our logo on the box keeps changing, but there are some dedicated people that have followed Poser from Raydream and Fractal Design through every move...

You're not too far behind - trust me - I've done the trade show circuit this year - biggest quote "Oh, you're the Poser people now..."

Poser 6 was released under the Curious Labs 'an e frontier company' name, and in November of last year, Smith Micro purchased the graphics business that was known as e frontier America.  We've been slowly moving everything over, but you will still see various CL and EF mentions all over the place...

Yeah, watch out for Smith Micro. They'll want you to upgrade to Poser Pro. Don't listen to the voices.

nickedshield ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2008 at 7:55 PM

Poser Pro? Is that for people who make nakked vickies that only come out at night? Inquiring minds need to know :)

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Nope, not the only one. I'm setting up 3 swappable drives with only XP & Poser for specific projects, as follows:

XP & Poser 6
XP & Poser 5
XP & Poser 4

P5 runs faster than Poser 6 on the same machine, and P4 is blazing fast.

I still have Poser 1 and 2 on the Mac, but can't seem to find my Poser 3 disc anywhere.

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Fri, 20 June 2008 at 11:02 PM · edited Fri, 20 June 2008 at 11:08 PM

I found that Poser 4 doesn't run properly under Windows Vista. Some of its features refuse to appear.

When I see the trouble I have with a 3rd party software buy at Smithmicro, I certainly do not want to buy there again.

You guys forgot about Egisys .... in between Curious Labs and e-frontier (of memory serves)

Egisys was our parent company at Curious Labs - we were never actually egisys in name.

Smith Micro or Sith Micro or what other adjectives you want to call them are my heros this week. Several years ago they purchased a company called Pacific Coast Software and specially a product called webcatalog (used as middle-ware on webservers). After more promises then Daz has ever given using the adjective "Soon" we will do this and "Soon" we will that to upgrade and advance the software, which never occurred....this week they spun off webcatalog to a group of users. Best news regarding this product in several years while under the control of SM. Sp again this week they are my heros. However this weekend I am sure something will go nuts with poser that the long overdue SR3 for P7  or SR1 for PPro would have fixed and they won't be my hero's any longer. :cursing:
