Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
Normally this works OK, but Poser 7 sometimes has problems with making an AVI.
It's better to render the Movie to Separate Frames, and use an external
program, like VirtualDub, to combine the frames and the sound.

Could you copy and paste the error message?
Maybe I can translate it online.

Hmm. The most common problem is that Poser's sound engine will only accept a single channel .wav file. If it a stereo, or Ghu forbid a 5:1 sound file, at best it will refuse to function and throw cryptic errors about unrecognized format. Just a plain old 8 bit mono .wav is all that works in the Poser app. The second most likely is that the codec being used isn't accepting the sound input. This could be for numerous issues, including only being a 'partial' codec (it was designed specifically to only decode; you have to buy the encoding part).
Dale, have they removed support for stereo WAV in Poser 7? I haven't upgraded to it yet, but I've been able to import stereo files since version 3. That would be a step backwards in the audio department if they did that.
But like ockham said, it is best to combine the audio and animation in a video editing application.

trying to import a .wav made in quicktime into PoserPro
Vista 64 bit home
"Poser does not support this audio format....etc"
I tried all settings out of Quicktime Pro on export including the lowest possible,
mono
8bit
8mhz

do i have to convert my source .aiff into an avi and then to wave?
Any clues would be welcome.

operaguy - try using these settings on the WAV file:
Mono
16-bit
44.1Khz sample rate
There are several variations of the .wav file format - the "Microsoft" flavor, Scott Studios .wav, and what is called "broadcast" .wav. If you can, I would recommend using another application to save the wav file, Audacity (free) is probably your best shot. I use the Microsoft .wav and it works fine. However, I am on XP, not Vista.
Hope this helps!

I think it is a bug on either Vista or PoserPro. on Vista
I downloaded Audacity and opened the audio wav and saved it out to another file name as "microsoft wav" format. No matter what settings I used, including those indicated above by Donnie, I could not get PoserPro on VistaHome64 to let it in.
Note: audacity only goes down to 16, not 8bit.
Meanwhile, on another system running Poser 7 sr3 on XP 32, all of these wavs, including the ones I did not run thru audacity, loaded and played in Poser7.
I am very close to blowing Vista off that computer and installing XP pro 64.

I only recently started using Vista on our home system, and for testing in my web development job - it's fine for general surfing, email, etc but I would not upgrade my audio and video production machines. Too many hoops to jump through, and I really don't like the constant popups, security notices, etc. Even after turning off all that, it's still a little paranoid.
I thought I was paranoid, but Vista is even more so... ;)

It is done well.
And I make it a avi movie by click menu like next.

Any sound (wav file) is same.
