Subject: V4 versus G2

Hello Folks,

I notice that there seems to be more stuff from vendors for V4 models than the G2.  Are the V4 models easier to work with, or is it just because V4 has been out longer?  I am asking because I am working on some new art and I am trying to start off with a new model that is a bit more realistic than cartoon-like.  I''ve been using Miki 2.0 for a while with mixed results.

Regards,
John

I use them all.  They have their pluses and minuses.  Here is a check list I've made that might help you determin what model will work best for you.

  1. general appearence.  does the model have the right look for you?
  2. morphability.  Is out of the box good enough or does the model need a more customized look?
(V4 is much more versitile in this area)
  3. Costuming.  Is the right costumes, hair, etc. available for your needs.

Now of course with Wardrobe Wizard 2.0 and Crossdresser the costume issue isn't as pressing, but it all comes down to taste and body form.  The G2 figures don't have quite the versitility in that area as V4, but they have a unique and original look to them that lend to realistic renderings, and at RDNA there are morph-packs that extend thier body shapes.  At content paradise there are several genres of costumes for them as well.  I hope that my suggestions, as simple as they may be are helpful to you.

The Victoria figures where always on top of the Poser original figures. Like me, most many Poserartists prefere Victoria so the vendors create much more for her than for Poser Originals.

If you're looking for realistic, P5 Judy is far more realistic than the Victoria figures. Smaller breasts, wider hips, a fairly plain default face (with an enormous amount of morphing abilities in the Face Room). Not that many body morphs however.
If you have Poser 6,7 or Pro, you can download her and her wardrobe from Smith Micro for free.

There's some stuff for Judy in freestuff, and a little bit in the marketplace. Content Paradise will probably have more.
pitklad has recently released a morph for P5 Judy that will give her a more attractive face, and dphoadley has just released a full body morph for Judy. Both are free.

If you are looking for a female figure that is not a supermodel (V4) or a linebacker (V3), Judy is a pretty good bet.
